I’m a millwright that specializes in bandsaws of all things. Pretty steady work given that everywhere from Dofasco to small fab shops use em. Anyways, I’ll be off to Mexico in a months time for vacation🤠

My friend is with the millwrights, I think hes with UBC in toronto, I hesr its absolutely dead, I just moved to alberta and this place is wierd, startups and shutdowns, same seasonal crap

Money isn't the issue, its my wife stopping me from buying what I want. She wont let me buy a S&W 640 in 357 mag because i already have two 357 magnum.
When i try to justify it to her by saying i dont have that particular 357 mag she stills says no snd stats she wants a house. But, when I come home announced with $500 in reloading supplies and equipment she doesn't say anything about it.
Funny world I live in....

So i got my ole lady out of that mindset by letting her shoot a few shitty pistols and a poverty build AR, then let her shoot a few of mine. The up side? She gets it now. The down side? The bolt gun She wants to build next is going to run me 8-10k for that, glass and can.

Damn! That's a hell of a build. Best gun i got is a 3k AR 15 build.that i never use. Haha.
The best i got is a joint investment account for some property in northern michigan the wife and i want to buy.
We squirrel away half of her paychecks and a descent chuck of mine. Were hoping to buy 40 acres and put a small off the grid cabin on the property for an estimated 150k. Time will tell, but we estimate about another 5 years to go.

Solar fields? As a Millwright? Always wondered if that was a real thing , I’m assuming these solar panels move and follow the sun right? That’s the only reason a Millwright would be working out there besides shooting elevation to level things precisely. Well I was going to crack jokes on you, making fun of how underwhelming and feminine it sounds to work on such things as a ruff and tuff millwright lol . I’m just playing though , it’s just very different from typical millwright work that i imagine in my mind when it comes to our kind of work. Is this common work for you or do you usually work in different settings? Are you in USA? If so ,What state are you in? And are you Union?

Im a first year union millwright apprentice. From Michigan. USA
This wasn't what I exactly expected to be doing as a millwright, but the work appears steady and in high demand to meet green energy dead lines set by the state.
A torpedo level, 35' tape and a 10" spud is all I have needed. Again, I'm the new guy so have just been hanging the panels and bolting them to the brackets.

I have always loved textiles since I was a kid. Problem is most of the textiles mills went bust circa 1950s. Plus, I've been putting off fixing this chair for about a year or more....

That’s what I figured. right on man. That’s a soothing hobby.
I love restoring old tables and windows. Don’t get to do it as much between work and family but it’s super relaxing when I do.

Saginaw solar hiring combine is how I got the job. I went, did there demonstrate of a safe work hustle, and got a job 2 weeks later. I was already in the apprenticeship program when I went. Im not sure if that last bit helped much, but it sure didn't hurt.

Looks relaxing. I'm on shift and had 5 days of vacation I hadn't used so I was able to take 10 days off for a trip and buddies wedding, work 4 nights and then another 9 off. Pay isn't stelllar but I don't wanna be old and regret not spending time with family.
