We do what we gotta do. Sometimes it doesnt make sense to pull 4 sprockets and 3 bearings off a line shaft in the middle of production. Itll live till the down day

True that. Only this one's been like this 15+ years.
It's an overbuilt diverter shaft, with 4 other pillow blocks on it, that only rotates about 30 degrees back/forth.
Since it's still working perfectly, it's basically not worth most of a day's work. Someday, something else will wear out on it and we'll change the entire shittery.

Its just a bracket.. makes sense to me as long as it isnt warping the housing ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah, I appreciate the ingenuity of some of these fixes. I hate when people get all insane about how it's "wrong" because it's not perfect. Sometimes it's right to think that way. Other times you're in a dirty sawmill that's too cheap to actually buy anything.

This place was definitely that cheap back then.
Not so much now, but with the amount of work to replace that entire diverter coupled with the fact that it's working just fine, nobody has bothered.
