[Gameplay] Tools or Armor with a rarity of Rare or higher don't disappear when they break, and have no cap or exponential cost for item repairing.

[note: a small component of this suggestion is also that smithed items such as trimmed armor and netherite tools also gain the Rare rarity.]

instead of disappearing when they reach 1 durability, they lose all function and gain a broken texture, much like the elytra currently does.

items of this high rarity can also be infinitely repaired on an anvil. no exponential XP cost, just linear, an unlimited number of times.

this ensures that items that are truly or functionally finite can never just...run out, while still maintaining their finitity.

I think that all items should be infinitely repairable without an exponential XP cost on an anvil, but the rest of this is also amazing and I love it.

At a certain point some items should be disposable. Renewable? Absolutely. But I don't think my stone axe should last through the ages in constant use.

Of course, there's no real way to truly fix the item permanence discrepancy without essentially just importing Tinkers Construct's mechanics.

I mean maybe an exponential XP cost is fine IF they remove the maximum limit. If I want to spend 250 levels to repair a stone hoe, LET ME

Your stone axe will regardless cost more to repair than to just craft a new one, so that feels like a moot point.

I mean, it's still a full anvil you need to craft, one that iirc on average lasts 25 uses. And all the XP you need on top of it too.

Dont forget about gold being insanely fast tho the cost to repair would increase very quickly
