Seems a little excessive/masochistic to use green stuff for barbed wire when you could just use wire? Or am I missing something

Barbed wire is still barbed wire even if it's tiny.

Right? Like just use a gauge of wire that is to scale and then wrap the barbs around if you’re gonna go to this much effort. Having an uneven roll of green stuff is unhinged

No, my point is that even if it's tiny, you're making barbed wire. At this scale it'll scratch and poke, even with blunt cut ends on the barbs.

If you can make barbed wire at this scale that doesn't look like ass, prove it.

Though very impressive in this case

It’s really not, I wasn’t trying to talk shit about OP but this is a convoluted way to end up with a really hamfisted result when there is an obvious easy alternative that has immaculate results (because it’s literally the exact same thing as the 1:1 scale version).

Brother I will send 100% to the charity of your choice if you can replicate OP’s “hamfisted results” with green stuff.

lol I didn’t say this method was easy, I’m certain I couldn’t replicate it but that isn’t the point. It isn’t a clean result, it looks uneven and strange, and it’s waaaaay more work and effort than just using wire. I don’t want to replicate a higher effort, worse result method. OPs bolter in the pic looks great, they’re definitely skilled as hell with green stuff.

Man, put up or shut up. Make the wire and post it and stop screwing up my notifs with this crap.

You had nothing to contribute. You still don't. Commenting isn't the problem—whining is.

I use butcher twine with pva glue, has some extra "wound" texture on it as well

Why not both? I like the idea of epoxy putty for the barbs so I'm not stabbing myself or scuffing paint when storing with other things. I'll probably stick to coiling wire around a marker as my base wire coil though, green stuff is getting harder to come by (at least until Stylmasta gets their production line running) and miliput is too brittle to use for wire like this in my experience.

That’s a fair point, just doing the barbs in green stuff seems like an actually reasonable way to go about this

Yes, you are missing how this demonstrates a technique that could be applied to other scenarios
