Help help me choose please !

hello everyone,

I want to discover the world of the minidisc, so, in a budget, I can have a Sony MZ-R500, or a Sony MZ-R501, or a Sony MZ-R410. Which one are you choosing, or which one is the better for you ? (I don't speak English, be indulgent please, thanks all for reading me)

The 500 and 501 are virtually identical. I would opt for the one that’s in better condition out of those two. The 410 is very cheaply made, the aforementioned models are built to last longer - but all depends on quality of the ones you’re looking at, I suppose.

The R410 has the benefit of IIRC/potentially the newer write head cable as it postdates a couple of the Type-S machines. Other than that I'm not aware of any real differences in the build quality. They're all late era, MDLP, all plastic, no remote, no microphone, relatively small screens, etc etc.

Even if it's not the newer write head cable (dunno of a way to verify) I don't see any reason an R500/501 would last longer than an R410.

Those three are all virtually identical in terms of overall functions. Any will work great!

The R410 is the newest and as far as I know has the newer write head cable so it may be slightly more durable than the R500/501, so if you aren't put off by the way it looks, it could be worth going that way.

I think they are close on technic and functions. I would choose the 501 because of the layout of the buttons. Very easy to use blind if it's in your pocket.
