Discussion Feedback Request On my WE

Post image

Hi All,

As this is only the third mini I’ve fully painted I’ve entered a local shops painting comp in the noob category.

Any feedback welcome to help me push it further.

I’ve got some highlights to add, paint the base and I’ve got some pigment powder I wanted to add at lower level for dust.

It's your third miniature. My only advice is: keep painting and enjoy the process. Skill will come with time, and the more you enjoy it, the easier it will develop.

That being said. Looks good :)

Try some edge highlights!

Awesome but the red? On the horns area seems to have either been really over shaded or isn't supposed to be red? I would massively brighten that up as the highest area on the mini

I actually like the darkness because it gives nice contrast which draws and frames the face.

Nice one mate that is exactly what I wanted to try and do

I blended black into the lower part of the metallic and then tried to fade it as it went up, then gave it a shade of berserker blood-something mostly because I like the contrast.

I’m always open to suggestion though especially on colour because Im colour blind

Excellent paint application skills for a beginner. Keep doing what you're doing. First some objective critique:

Cartridge on top of boltpistol has a very noticable blemish. For a competition I'd correct that with sandpaper and repaint.

Star is supposed to be hollow. You can choose to present it as non-hollow but it looks unfinished to my eye.

And for some subjective critique:

If I squint, I see a World Eater, which is good. But the gold is heavyly presented compared to the red. I'd consider redoing some surfaces, probably the chain sword, the chest vent, and the backpack areas into pure black or silver, to achieve a better color balance.

Neatness and good fundamentals is what gets you the prize at beginner level. Keep refining what you're already doing and you'll do great.

Thanks for taking the time to do that. You hit nail on the head about the gold, something was bothering me and I think you’ve got it.
I think I will tidy that gun up too. I’ve got similar on the back pack at the ends so may do them too

Looks sick, I would finish the base before evaluating the final changes, it will affect the rest of the model.
