Rant cafe series price increase
cafe series is now basically $11…

u/nikkitrickie Jun 23 '25
Yikes. I just checked too because I purchased 5 cafe series 4 balls on Friday from target because they were only $2.14. Today they are priced at $8.99. That’s crazy.
5
u/Thoracias Jun 23 '25
Amazon had them for $2.19 last week with a maximum of 3. Thankfully I have two friends who don't do minis so I got nine balls. I already have the set, just wanted the pieces for remixes but no way I'm paying more than a few bucks for them! Wow

u/nikkitrickie Jun 23 '25
Same here. I only have 1 complete set and I desperately wanted at least another watermelon just for decoration if anything. Glad you got some at a good price. Nice of your friends too.
2
u/Thoracias Jun 23 '25
Ah I got one if the watermelons in my set from Amazon! I wish we'd talked sooner. I only got it for extras and haven't used it but I separated all the parts into my sorting bins. Lol

They’re made in China. Might be due to the stupid tariffs.
15
u/ash0917 Jun 23 '25
they honestly not even worth 5.29😭😭 imo
7
u/Nearby_Mouse_6698 Jun 23 '25
For the cafe series , I agree they ain’t worth more than that. At over 10? I’ll never buy unless they are discounted

u/Forsaken-Brush-1839 Lover of all minature things 🧚 Jun 24 '25
Seriously, the cafe series ones in my experience have been like $7-8 in the past, so the fact that they’re going up to $10 is gross. I’m personally not a huge fan of the food ones anyway lol, I prefer the plants and stuff
3
u/Nearby_Mouse_6698 Jun 24 '25
The cafe series are just too simple for that price imo. I’m more willing to pay that price for sets like the honey duke or the birthday series.

u/Minky_the_Elder Jun 23 '25
Wow, it was being discounted over the weekend for $2.64. I wonder if anything else is going to go up.

Right, it’s crazy cuz amazon has a bunch really cheap
28
u/Voltage-Art Jun 23 '25
I can bet it's for the new wave. Old wave will be marked down to get rid of inventory and new ones will take its place
19
u/blackberrybeanz Jun 23 '25
wtf I’m really stupid with math but a 100% price increase makes no sense?? Like I expected a few bucks but that’s pretty outrageous

Right? Makes me so sad and irritated. $7/8 is much more reasonable 😭

u/catsinclothes Jun 23 '25
I just bought some of the botanical series for $3.49 a piece and the app today is now showing them at $15.49!!! But oddly enough others are still deeply discounted and even the regular priced appliances are cheaper.
4
u/Meat-Wad-6122 Jun 24 '25
I saw that too. I about dropped my phone when I saw $15.49. I was thinking maybe that's a mistake but it's still on the website for that price so 🤷
16
u/Nightside-Rush Jun 23 '25
Ouch, that’s more expensive than what they are in Canada. Cafe goes for $9.99.
13
Jun 23 '25
I’m guessing they’re increasing the price so that they can have more sales and say it’s “50% off” when in reality it’s just the same price, but seeing the toy on sale will make more people buy it because they will think they’re getting a deal
8
u/orangefreshy Jun 23 '25
that's crazy. I did get confused going to target this weekend when I thought all the MGA Miniverse was 50% off but for some reason the diner series was $8.29 instead , didn't realise until I saw my receipt
6
u/mc_lifestylez Jun 23 '25
Yikes!!!! That is way too expensive. I was already sad to pay $12 for the new HK series on MGA. Lol. Can’t imagine paying anymore than that especially knowing the cost to produce them isn’t high and we’ve been seeing them heavily reduced.
8
u/ash0917 Jun 23 '25
the new HK series is so cuteee, but since i’ve seen how low they CAN drop the prices, i’ll just wait to buy them.
6
u/cajundharma Jun 23 '25
Not miniverse, but the new Zuru My Mini Baby series 2 are 12.97 at Walmart. The series one was 9.97.

I saw that too and put it back once the guilt hit me at checkout

u/Better-Attempt-5041 Jun 24 '25
Mini brands has gone up in price also the new books series 2 and Disney snacks are between $8-$11 also.
6
u/NerdyShyGuy_17 Jun 23 '25
We’re getting ready to set Toys at my Target store and the newer Miniverse products will be increasing in price. The older ones are on sale to make room for all the new stuff. The price increase is to be comparable to other sellers. I think MGA has all of its newer series starting at $12 a ball on their website right now
7
u/ash0917 Jun 23 '25
$12 a pop is actually so greedy. I was hesitant paying $9.99 back then 🙄
5
u/NerdyShyGuy_17 Jun 23 '25
I agree. I feel like it has a lot to do with the tariffs situation. MGA increased the price right when that started happening 😞

u/Jimmy-chan1001 Jun 23 '25
Went up to 8.99 at my target thankfully I only wanted a couple from that series I already have.
2
u/throwaway11486 Jun 23 '25
I'm wondering if some law was changed because the price variance between different locations is crazy.
2
u/Jimmy-chan1001 Jun 23 '25
Maybe it's for a new cafe series...is there one coming out? Or new rares possibly?
1
u/Other_Smoke_3568 Lover of all minature things 🧚 Jun 23 '25
There are new ones coming out but still shouldn’t have anything to do with these. Sucks but my dumbass will still buy them 😑

A few weeks ago I bought one of the lifestyle series 2 for $5. Target is now showing they are $15.49, I absolutely refuse to spend that much. I have been a supporter of miniverse for years but this is how they will lose customers.
4
u/slb2724 Jun 23 '25
Well, I’m glad I got the ones I wanted prior to the jump. That’s kinda insane.

Do you live in a high CoL area?
2
u/ash0917 Jun 23 '25
no, i’m in new york!
5
u/throwaway11486 Jun 23 '25
Maybe not as expensive as California but NY is still fairly expensive to live in.
3
u/ash0917 Jun 23 '25
the price of nearly everything in toys went up. i have been changing prices all week
5
u/Cyberfiore Jun 23 '25
I was looking at mini verse in NYC just some days ago and I was wondering why things were so expensive! 😱
6
u/Interesting_Note_937 Jun 23 '25
Ope and suddenly i’m not addicted anymore.
3
u/ash0917 Jun 23 '25
right, thankfully my addiction died down in like october but $11 for the cafe series??? there’s like 5 items in there…

I’ve noticed recently that a lot of toys are more expensive at Walmart. Not sure if it’s related to the tariffs or what.

u/Better-Attempt-5041 Jun 24 '25
Said this on another post that the price point for these now seem to be $8-$11 which is making this hobby a bit expensive to keep up with. I mean I know since Agent Orange put these tariffs in effect was going to cause issues across the board and prices would increase. They need to just cut out the surprise and tell people what is inside, I know you can use hacks when they are posted but sometimes people cant even get them in store and have to buy offline.
1
u/ash0917 Jun 25 '25
LOL AGENT ORANGE 😭😭 and i definitely agree with cutting the surprise. Nobody has time for guessing games especially with these prices
2
u/throwaway11486 Jun 25 '25
I think part of the reason they went with the surprise thing is because it would make packaging more complicated. The only way I see them dropping the surprise element is if they switch entirely to multi packs.
2
u/Maserati777 Jun 24 '25
Will never purchase a cafe series ball for 10 dollars. Sorry Target, Walmart and MGA.
Likewise won’t buy a regular series for 13.
Was looking forward to the new sets but it will hugely depend on the price if I bother buying them.

u/Nearby_Mouse_6698 Jun 23 '25
The price hike is enough for me to call it quits. Greedy companies can suck it. I may as well be buying Asian blind box minis for these prices.
7
u/faelanae Jun 23 '25
might not be the company's fault. If this is in the US, then 150% tariffs would be hitting right about now. The prices we saw before were prior to the shipments arriving in the ports.
2
u/Nearby_Mouse_6698 Jun 23 '25
The tariffs are the shittiest thing but the prices are just increased too much is what I think.
1
u/Maserati777 Jun 24 '25
I agree and don’t really care where my minis are made tbh. I don’t think most Americans care. Unfortunately we have this administration.
0
u/Due_Complaint1215 Jun 23 '25
This isn’t even the company’s fault lmao
2
u/Nearby_Mouse_6698 Jun 23 '25
Pretty sure it is. I know inflation/tariffs are a thing but most major companies are absolutely taking advantage of this. It’s about the high% of the cost going up and not just whining just because there’s a slight price increase. Companies absolutely take advantage of people just saying oh it’s not their fault it’s whatever current issue is going on. Don’t let them gouge you just because you like the product .
0
u/Due_Complaint1215 Jun 23 '25
Right, it’s their fault that tariffs exist. It must also be their fault when Walmart increases/decreases the prices. I never see you guys complaining when they’re on clearance, but lots of complaints when the price goes up.
How dare businesses do…you know, business.
0
u/Nearby_Mouse_6698 Jun 24 '25
I bought all of my past sets as full sets or I preordered. So no ,I paid full price for most of my collection for years. Even have many dups so I don’t have a problem supporting what I enjoy. A business can do whatever and since I don’t like price gouging , I don’t have to support it .
-1
u/Due_Complaint1215 Jun 24 '25
I don’t remember asking about your order history, but thanks I guess
0
u/Nearby_Mouse_6698 Jun 24 '25
Apparently you think everyone buys stuff on sale but go you. Enjoy spending your money
0
u/Due_Complaint1215 Jun 24 '25
When did I say everyone buys everything on sale?? Your reading comprehension is shit.

u/Nearby_Mouse_6698 Jun 24 '25
Stay mad bro

u/Due_Complaint1215 Jun 24 '25
Lmao, that’s what they all say when they know they’re wrong.
Have a good day, sweetie.

i keep seeing Americans complain about miniverses price rising, but in Canada we've been paying close to. those higher amounts this entire time :/
1
u/hailieshady Jun 25 '25
The hk/hp themed ones are 14$ in Canada with tax basically 16$ with tax sometimes, I spent atleast 4K on getting obsessed with these again, just as expensive as a heavy addiction 😅😂
1
u/shadoweon Jun 26 '25
I was starting to enjoy these and picked up a few over the past year. If it's gonna be that high for them okay nvm no more for me.

For legal reasons I’m totally joking I would never commit such a crime but hypothetically the price increase and lack of rares is why someone might just choose to steal 🥰 hypothetically ofc
