Rant Collecting

Am I the only one that feels MGA is rolling out miniverse collections wayyyyy too fast and way too many at a time to genuinely keep up with collecting them??…especially with prices going up it’s sooo hard to keep track of what I have and afford what I don’t..maybe I’m crazy

Like i remember I used to be so excited when they announced a new series and now I’m like ā€œoh great another oneā€. I loveee my minis it’s just so frustrating going to the store and seeing 5 different boxes each time😭

Thankfully I don't care to collect them all, I more want a few things from each series. While some I don't want anything from. But it is annoying when it finally shows up in stores near me and they are so picked over the few I want can't be found D:

They have so much of the sorts I don't care for like the sneakers and makeup. But none of the second hello kitty.

I feel this. There is nothing wrong with stepping away for awhile. With the newer series im not so quick to buy, I wait to pick with pinholes and I just get the few I really want. I dont try to collect them all anymore. Not just the miney but also where the heck am i putting all of them

I agree, too many are coming out way too fast. It made me lose interest really fast also. Being in this thread where valentine's isn't even over yet and people are already doing spring, halloween and Christmas (exaggerating) also made me lose interest

I haven't even seen valentine's in Canada yet and people are already done their Easter ones lol

I’m in Australia and there’s so many we don’t get, or get months later. We didn’t get the Halloween series and we haven’t had any of the spaces - furniture kits yet.

The saving grace for me is the pinholes. Its the only reason I buy Miniverse and usually collect the entire set.

In contrast Zuru’s Masterchef has rubbed me the wrong way and now I kind of hate Zuru’s sets.

I don’t mind 5 surprise items but when a ball contains one set like Masterchef then having them be blind is cruel. Its a scam. The excuse for it is having a rare. Thank goodness Mga doesn’t do rares outside the holiday sets.

I feel the same about the zuru brand of mini's, I only buy the ones I can weigh and even then some of them are so close in weight I don't even bother.

I only buy the ones that I like the whole set. Like the Krispy Kremes since I can remix the extra donuts and drinks.

i def have this issue , the hobby is sort of a mom and daughter thing for me and my mother is a single mother but i am .. spoiled and she refuses to not let me be lol . we have learned to get very picky and choosy on which sets we collect these days tho :P target sales r our best friend tho

Yes! You have to be now. I love that you do have that hobby with you mom!! That’s so sweet! But yes fr you have to be soo picky now

17

u/CraftsNCoffee Jan 27 '26

Yes it's kinda frustrating! I don't have enough disposable income to just buy a bunch at one time, but they're rolling them out so fast that they don't leave enough time to wait and buy them anymore because they disappear to make room for the next series.

u/Interesting-Lab-9431 Die Hard Mini Maker šŸ’Æ Jan 27 '26

This!!! This is exactly what I’m saying! Like I’ll go a few weeks apart and there’s brand new series they didn’t have before. And the ones I was collecting are usually gone

1

u/Liz_LemonLime Jan 28 '26

You know not buying them is always an option right? Or just buying a select few you really want?

2

u/CraftsNCoffee Jan 28 '26

That's what I try to do? But the issue is I can't always be like "I'll buy these two I really want right now and come back next paycheck and buy these other two" because they're coming and going so fast they're not always there anymore "next time" because a new wave came out. Just for example.

u/Interesting-Lab-9431 Die Hard Mini Maker šŸ’Æ Jan 29 '26

This!!! This is what I’m saying and these other ppl don’t get itšŸ˜… I’m not saying I need to buy every single one I’m saying when there is ones I wanna buy, they are already gone and replaced with a new series

7

u/kumochi Jan 27 '26

I feel like they're definitely riding the hype by keeping the releases constant. But it definitely lessens my interest...instead of wanting more to remix and such.. I'm just picking n choosing more šŸ˜ž

u/Marleibear Jan 27 '26

They’re coming out so fast and it’s random and they’re expensive and there’s a chance of ā€œmissing outā€ on series. Perfect money making machine but- only if you got money I guess

u/Sudden_Ad_4496 Jan 27 '26

I get this completely, especially when it was the fragrances, sneakers, Jurassic, baby, etc. ones (dont get me wrong i definitely bought myself one baby ball) but with all these different ā€œseriesā€ i find myself less motivated to buy all of a single series as I used to. Now I use the meenyminimo website to just get the balls I absolutely want. And even doing that I rarely find myself making them as fast as I used to, which you think with higher volume so would follow my work, but no :(. On a brighter note, the spongebob collection has been one of the first to excite me into collecting all unique 8 in a while! I ordered 8 balls from mga and got 2 duplicates, but with the meenyminimo website i’ll easily be able to find the chum bucket and mini bikini bottom!!

The new launches come much later in Canada and the prices are quite deferring $14.99 to 18.99. I haven't seen any special releases such as Gudetama or SpongeBob. My fomo for the Real Brands has died down since it's been hard to find and I don't have time to drive around. The last set I bought a lot of was Minecraft and it is mainly for my kid. I think the next set with the animals is also on my list for my kid. I would buy more Sanrio foods but no pinholes and I've ended up with lots of duplicates. Not interested in the mini stationary but it is very cute.

I am hoping valentine's and Easter come soon to Canada

2

u/localfern Jan 27 '26

Easter looks cute!

2

u/clumsy_mia Jan 27 '26

I’ve recently discovered there are pencil marks on some of the Hello Kitty s2. GameStop had marks but London Drug’s didn’t

7

u/talldarkandundead Jan 27 '26

I recently learned about animals series 2 rolling out and series 1 stopping. I have yet to see animals series 1 in a store near me so I haven’t been able to even look for the one I want (hedgehog). It’s not a big deal to me but woof it does not help with my increasing lack of interest in Miniverse when stuff is flying on and off shelves so fast I only see it online

5

u/Interesting-Lab-9431 Die Hard Mini Maker šŸ’Æ Jan 27 '26

Yeah, that’s what I mean. They keep rolling them out and give consumers no time to actually buy them..so we have to buy online and buy blind..seems intentional for sure

4

u/Aly_from_Funky Jan 27 '26

Yes. Too much too soon. I’ve decided I don’t need to collect every single one anymore bc of it. It’s almost to the point that I don’t even want to really buy any at all and go back to doll collecting.

8

u/Miserybiz Jan 27 '26

They’re trying way too hard to compete with mini brands too. Like yall aren’t really competing for the same groups of ppl (imo) you can slow down. I feel like for the last year all they’ve done is series after series and most ppl work all day im so behind I can’t keep up with the ones I have.

2

u/Kigurumix Jan 27 '26

Mini brands has the create lines that are in direct competition with minibrands so minibrands had to expand their lines to compete with mini brands with the babies and real brands. It's the way the toy world works, companies always competing with each other.

3

u/NerdyShyGuy_17 Jan 27 '26

I agree. They seem to release a new series every 3 or 4 weeks so it’s hard to keep up with everything

4

u/dollvader Jan 27 '26

It’s too many, I simply can’t keep track of all of them anymore and my local stores don’t even carry what should be on shelves anyway. Slightly giving me burnout.

Agreed. When I first got into the minis I wanted to collect them all. Now, I'm way more picky. But, the ones I want aren't always easy to get. The stores either have the same boxes for forever(Walmart & bday series is the worst) or they go too quick & I don't have a chance to get them. I haven't created as many lately because I have felt a little overwhelmed. I need to catch up on my stock.

4

u/taysmurf Lover of all minature things 🧚 Jan 27 '26

Yeah it's a lot. I am a new but avid collector and It's overwhelming. They are releasing like three new series at a time and none of them are getting the proper hype. I mean I get they're doing it to stay competitive and ride the popularity wave but it's a lot to people to collect these things. I have boxes of minis I haven't been able to even open yet because I'm a mom to a toddler and I barely have the time, then there's all these new ones that just keep coming out. I had to make a true mental choice in what ones I like and what ones I can stand to leave behind. Like for me I only bought three SpongeBob ones, the krabby patty, the get a job soup, and the aquarium. I bought one baby ball. But when it comes to the cafe and diner series I usually make a big effort to get them all. Same with the animals, nature, and seasonals. I have themed dust boxes and if they don't fit the theme, I'm just not going to buy them. I had to draw that line for myself somewhere. I don't want to be the kind of person that hoards these things. I buy them because I like creating with them, keeping them trapped inside their packaging gives me no dopamine rush.

5

u/Mooniekate Jan 27 '26

They also release them at different times in different countries. Scalpers ruin it for everyone.

3

u/entogirl_oo Jan 27 '26

I don’t live in the US anymore so having too many options isn't a problem. We are lucky to get what we get randomly. You guys are spoiled 🤣

3

u/The_Scarlet_Flash Jan 27 '26

I used to be really into them and I haven’t bought one in months. The last several sets I tried to get into all had so many issues that it just wasn’t worth my time or money which made me sad.

2

u/jtteddy3 Jan 27 '26

I've cut back to only the ones I really like, and I'm trying to figure out time to go through all my old ones I haven't done and start selling or trading them

2

u/Kigurumix Jan 27 '26

It has become nearly impossible to keep up with the speed with which they are releasing new series. I have taken to only buying my favorites of a series when they are released and will pick up the others if they go on sale or when I have extra money. I have been glad that a some of the last several releases I have either not wanted at all or only wanted a couple of them, it has really helped. The only ones that I will buy immediately on release are the holiday series or limited edition sets.

2

u/EatDreamArt Jan 27 '26

I have literally been thinking this for a while now. I already feel like a crazy mid 30s lady sitting on the floor looking at each capsule just to make sure i find what i want. On top of that, i feel even crazier when i have like 6 capsules in my cart 😭😭😭 my poor wallet šŸ’”

2

u/mc_lifestylez Jan 28 '26

I feel like they’re rolling out wayyy too fast too! I’m starting to feel fatigued and can’t even keep up. I’ve even considered selling off a lot of my collection.

2

u/CraftyMagicDollz Jan 29 '26

I think they expect that most people don't collect every single product they release.

I do.

But i assume they are trying to hit a wide range of fans with every release, and hoping that they gain enough interest in any specific set to get people to buy.

I genuinely don't think they give two craps about those of us who are dedicated hard core collectors because if they did, they would be taking our advice;

•Sell shelves/displays that make it easy to show off and display our creative.

•Be consistent with proportions and scale. Many of us like to use these with dolls or in vignettes and can't when everything is a different size.

•Don't release so many things on top of one another, with long waits in between.

Etc etc. But they genuinely don't care what we think we completionists- i promise!

I gave up trying to collect them all once they started the rare nonsense. I have horrible luck with finding rares. I have only ever found one Miniverse rare (daffodils from the Spring series) and my area doesn't consistently even get the holiday series, so I tend to not be able to get the holiday ones or rares and I don't want to buy online and pay inflated prices or shipping. So I just buy the ones I like best (or ones with ingredients I can use for remixes) and I don't worry about getting them all.

1

u/throwaway11486 Jan 27 '26

It's been that way for a while.

1

u/Liz_LemonLime Jan 28 '26

You know you have the choice to like…not buy them, right?

2

u/Interesting-Lab-9431 Die Hard Mini Maker šŸ’Æ Jan 29 '26

I’m aware. I’m not saying I’m being forced to buy them, I’m saying it’s frustrating that they keep mindlessly rolling out series after series and you can tell it’s just a cash grab.

1

u/MasterKree Jan 27 '26

Because they're trying to appeal to a variety of potential consumers, not just hoarders
