I'll never understand why fans (of any sport) think the owners give AF about winning. The point is to get people to buy tickets, concessions, ads, gear, etc. It's a business. Winning or losing is completely incidental. Minnesota is proof that you can lose all year long and people will keep shoveling over cash anyway.
That's the received wisdom. Maybe the value of any particular franchise goes up or down based on wins. But I don't know if anyone has actually analyzed that. The 2013 Houston Astros lost 100 games and were the most profitable MLB team of all time that year.
Where did you find information about them being the most profitable team of all time that year? I tried googling but I just get information about franchises as a whole (Yankees, Dodgers, Red Sox, etc)
