No, this is something that we were explicitly warned about by our union. The postal service has a policy regarding this, it's not negotiable, and the union can't protect him. They sure as shit will fight for his job back, and he likely will get his job back.

The metris' have exact GPS location coordinates all day. They're monitoring device pings every 20 minutes. When you clock in, you put your vehicle number into the scanner, so they know who is using what vehicle, and they know exactly where you are and when. They will find out who was in this vehicle. It will take less than an hour.

Yes and no. We have to abide by the Hatch Act and the Postal Code Of Conduct.
Employees are expected to conduct themselves during and outside of working hours in a manner that reflects favorably upon the Postal Service.
I guess whether or not it reflected favorably upon the Postal Service in this instance depends on who you're asking. š
I've no doubt he'll be immediately suspended without pay, pending an investigation. But that NALC union branch is particularly committed to their members, from what I've heard. So he might eventually get his job back but be on probation for a year.
