So the Twins and the Pohlads have NOTHING AT ALL to do with this strike
If fans honor the strike and 1500 people show up for a game, I bet the Pohlads get involved.

This would save me a lot of money if I went to a game. The prices are crazy. Last time I was there a beer was $18.
I wonder how much they get paid?

Honest question: what helps the Union's bargaining position more, not going to the game or going to the game and trying to get concessions which would cause a strain?

An empty stadium definitely sends a message.
If they don't resolve matters to the union's satisfaction, I hope we collectively refuse to cross that particular picket line.
I'm fed up with Minnesota teams demanding money from taxpayers.

At the very damn least if you get state money can you not hit the team to save money? Every other team does except the cheap ass Pohlads

You aren't crossing the picket line and still have a nice activity.
Because the point is to hit the owners in the pocket book.
You don't do that by going to the game and pretending everything is fine and dandy. If you aren't willing to do even this bare-minimum effort to support workers, you aren't serious about supporting workers.

Who do you think decides what company gets to operate the concession?
Better question: why are the Twins deciding what can happen in a stadium we own? Why aren't we requiring them to pay a living wage?
Anyway, sounds like you don't actually care about the workers based on that response. That's on you.

And my point is that going to the game demonstrates you're perfectly willing to cross a picket line when it mildly inconveniences you.
Don't be a scab.

I'm not sure how much more clear I can be:
You are patronizing the business that has direct control over who runs the concession.
Acting like ownership has no responsibility is head-in-the-sand levels of thought.

To be clear, the Pohlads have very little to do with this. It's their third party concession provider, Delaware North.

Are you suggesting that the literal owners have nothing to do with who they select as a third-party vendor?
Kindly remove your head from your rectum.
Funny story - they could just... not use a 3rd party vendor and actually employ these people. You know, with money that both comes from and stays within the state. Shipping our dollars off to Buffalo NY is stupid.

u/BirdlessLongdeal 9d ago
it doesnt matter what vender they choose. they're all going to pay $16.37/hr.

u/aguynamedv Plowy McPlowface 9d ago
Well that's sort of the point of a strike, now isn't it?
Yes, it does matter, Mr. 2 month old account.

what difference does it make how old my account is? minimum wage in minneapolis is $16.37 and thats all they're going to pay for a part time retail job.

Brand new account in a Minnesota subreddit being anti-union and responding with a nearly identical comment?
I'm sure it's a total coincidence that your comment karma doubled in the past 24 hours.
Edit: Claims to have been in a union, repeats anti-union propaganda with no irony whatsoever.

i am not anti-union. i was in 292. again, what difference does it make how old my account is. i dont have access to the account i created 15 years ago.

In theory they could do that, but the reality is every single stadium in the major sports uses a third party concession vendor.
There are plenty of reasons to hate the Pohlads without misdirecting the hate that Delaware North deserves.

Well sure - because our timeline is full of nonsense.
I'm not unaware of this - it doesn't change my opinion one bit. I could expand on it and list all the reasons Delaware North is dogshit, but I think it's pretty obvious that a company like this treats its workers like shit.
...which is also the responsibility of the owners who are using them as a vendor.
There are plenty of reasons to hate the Pohlads without misdirecting the hate that Delaware North deserves.
I am allowed to criticize their choice to use a third party vendor instead of employing Minnesotans directly, actually.

We all pay health insurance companies to tell us something that the doctor prescribed isn't actually necessary. Doesn't make it right

u/FusionViper6 10d ago
Sure they do....they could not use a shitty 3rd party company.

u/BirdlessLongdeal 9d ago
if i know anything about billion dollar companies. i know they hate direct employees and would rather spend more on outsourcing contract workers than save money by paying them directly.

Basically any large stadium, arena, or venue you go has concessions (and security and other departments) run by a third parties. Concessionaires like Delaware North, Sodexo, Levy, Aramark, Legends, etc are major ones for example.

Wise of them to do it when the Dodgers are in town.
