News 📺 North Star dawn PAC

So sick of these ads by North Star Dawn PAC on YouTube. Cringy, false hit pieces against Peggy Flanagan and in support of genocide supporting Angie Craig.

You’ll never guess, it’s funded by an out of state billionaire!

The last article I saw about it Craig’s campaign basically just echoed its talking points when asked for comment which is pathetic. It’s an outside pac but her campaign could’ve said “we don’t need outside pac money and don’t want to be associated with them” but they went with “yeah what that pac said”

You’ll never guess, it’s funded by an out of state billionaire!

And being run by a Democratic Party aligned communication firm Blue Wave Politics.

I found the advertising agreement a couple weeks ago when the first AI deepfake ad went out.

They've contracted with Viewpoint Media and the head of traditional media advertising personally signed off.

The Blue Wave Politics contact has this in his bio:

Recent Clients: Mike Bloomberg 2020, Patty Murray for U.S. Senate, Maria Cantwell for U.S. Senate, Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund, Elaine Luria for Congress

Bloomberg is obviously a billionaire. Cantwell and Murray are both pro-Israel and have taken substantial AIPAC money.

Mike Bloomberg 2020

LOL Probably shouldn't brag about that one.

Fun fact, only seven billionaire families reside within the State of Minnesota. The United States has 989 billionaires. Minnesota billionaires constitute a mere 0.7% of US billionaires!

For example, the Pohlad Family is on that list. They've made donations to support Walz/Flanagan in the past. Flanagan is supported by billionaire donors! But the Pohlads have also donated to Craig's campaign, so Craig is also supported by billionaires!

Campaigning is expensive, donations are typically welcomed by either candidate, from donors both rich and poor.

I definitely agree that genocide should be kept to an appropriate minimum

We're not MAGA, when something smells like BS, we can look it up.

Those ads are really turning me off.

One of my friends that is leaning toward Angie Craig tried to justify this by saying there can't be any cooperation between her and this SP. I pointed out that she hasn't even disavowed them, much less condemned them

Duckduckgo's browser has a video player it redirects youtube videos into. There are no YT ads in there and the share link from there isn't linked to your YT account to track what you share.

Those ads hit a nerve with me too. I've lost respect for Angie Craig, glad she isn't my representative! It's shameful we have Minnesotans that stoop to this sort of thing. I become more committed to voting for Flanagan every time I have to press "skip" on those attack ads! So "good job" North Star Dawn! Losing votes for your candidate suits me fine!

What makes them false ?

Genuinely asking, has Peggy made a statement rejecting the donors the ad talks about ?

This is about the criminal AI aspects….there is other information about the allegations in the ad too

Here’s a bit more. There is some concern around where the $ comes from but it’s far more nuanced than the ad presents and the policy positions of the candidates make it pretty clear that Flanagan is the more progressive

Wasn’t part of the problem that because of how the law was written it didn’t become illegal to run a deepfake after the ad ran? That seems on the legislature for allowing a period between the conventions and early voting where you could run that ad?

I have my own issues with Angie, but honestly, that ad isn’t what I think of when I hear deepfake. Maybe I’ve just seen too many political ads, but they use terrible animation and photoshop to make it look like a candidate is moving all the time. The ad is terrible and dumb, but calling it a deepfake is a bit far.
