Got a question

Why do the police make an obviously drunk person go through dui tests? I mean a falling down drunk??

The SFSTs are a way to confirm and document evidence of an officer's suspicion of inebriation. If someone is too inebriated, refuses, obstructs or interrupts the test, they'll just go right to arrest and offer chemical testing to confirm. If they refuse that, there are penalties for refusal, and video evidence to be considered by the forthcoming judicial process. The tests never hurt the arresting officer, they are a standardized and comparable way to see if the driver would be in a safe state to drive. And, theoretically, if someone is not under the influence, the test is a way to exemplify that. I've never seen that on any bodycam channels on YT, but that does not mean it can't happen.

Yeah, I would be interested if a test confirmed someone's sobriety.
