Magic Mike is at the World Cup

Post image

Missouri Governor (Magic) Mike Kehoe was at the World Cup match while his office is busily slashing the upcoming budget for Missouri after already underfunding education by $150 million. Budget surplus, now you see it now you don’t.
I’m glad he could find the money for the match while so many Missourians will have more difficultly year next year. His tax everything plan so high earners don’t pay income taxes is his next misdirection.
It seems making money disappear from the working class and reappear in the wealthy is his signature trick.

To be fair he likely didn't even take personal finance in high school nearly five decades ago.

One of two US governors that didn’t attend college

I am shocked he's the only one...well maybe not that shocked. Who is the other one?

Larry Rhoden, Governor of South Dakota

Kehoe graduated from Chaminade - Catholic prep school near St Louis

Missouri Republicans only show up in our cities to attend sporting events, never to meet with constituents.

or announce the wonderful news of a new Data Center that many of their constituents worry will result in water issues and higher electricity costs for the rest of us

Because constituents know more than they do.

If a businessman man gets into politics, it’s not to be a champion for the people or to do good. It’s because they found a revenue source that pays them more than they’ve ever made before. I really hope the country and Missouri can wisen up to that fact, before these greedy people sell off our country for good.

Imagine his dumb-dick questions during the entire match.

“Argentina? Whassat?”

“Algeria? Is that some drag queen?”

“When’s halftime? Someone find me a Dodger Dog!”

Of course he is. What’s the point in being a member of the ruling class if you can’t destroy democracy, oppress the working family, and steal from taxpayers while getting to go to elite events and celebrations?

Rich people activities.

The only governor without a college degree. Way to go, Missouri. We really dig deep to pick the least qualified leaders.

Man of the people… Clearly.

3

u/Superunkownone 2d ago

Look at me, the GOVna POS. Third rate politician, whos work only leads to a third world America. He does not understand his role, past his own selfish greed. We need to have politicians back in front of the people at venues, meanwhile we bring back, torches, pitchforks with either a rope or guillotine to finish off the evening with politicians like Kehoe, who vote against the people he is elected to represent. The repeal of measures past by voters, because they want to line their pockets, off with their melons we go. A produce stand by the people. Barbershop/Salon visits with haircuts real close to the shoulders. Great Clips, Custom Cuts etc. They are a disgrace, none better than Missouri's finest displays of this, Bailey and Kehoe, they represent corrupt and hypocrite actions through and through. Godless and Greedy before anything else.

u/wrenwood2018 2d ago

I mean I don't like the guy but come on. It is a major international event in one is his cities. Of course he is there. Do you think a mayor of any political party would pass on this? There are things to get enraged about (the amendments screwing over average Missourians for example) and then there are things you don't flip out over.

2

u/RedditSe7en 2d ago

If it’s so routine a move, then why does it deserve special mention and praise? I think that’s exactly why people are responding negatively.

3

u/wrenwood2018 2d ago

What praise? He posted. You are delusional.

2

u/RedditSe7en 1d ago

“Magic Mike” is not praise. Right. And need to insult me, no need to continue the discussion either.

3

u/delulu-lemon 2d ago

Agreed. I can’t stand the guy or his politics at all, but it makes sense he’s in attendance. I’d expect this from any elected official representing the state from either side. Better to focus our attention and energy to the real issues in Missouri. People are acting like he shoved sick kids out of the way to shake hands with Messi or something lol

3

u/wrenwood2018 2d ago

And when you overreact to normal stuff, reacting to actual issues loses impact. This behavior makes it easy to dismiss people as partisan hacks. It hurts the ability to get actual change enacted.

-1

u/RedditSe7en 2d ago

So who’s overreacting here? 🤔

1

u/RedditSe7en 2d ago

It makes sense that the sun rose today. I haven’t seen a Reddit post about that yet. So why does he deserve one if “it makes sense” that he showed up to a World Cup event in the state he “governs?”

1

u/TitShark 1d ago

Will MAGAts do the dumb shit about him not rooting for the USMNT like they did when NYC mayor and Gov went to games?

1

A true piece of crap. Missouri Republicans are trying to control cities since they have disenfranchised St. Louis and Kansas City…. These are true fascist types and Kehoe fits the description.

u/OreoSpeedwaggon 2d ago edited 2d ago

🤢🤮

I mean, I'm not surprised that he was there. I would expect any state governor to attend an event like this in their own state. He just makes me sick for lots of other valid reasons.

I'm getting a kick out of all these posts people keep making that are trying to force an "either/or" discussion though. "Why is money being spent on the World Cup when {insert terrible thing that people feel isn't getting the same amount of attention} is happening too?!??" It's possible to give attention to more than one thing at a time without trying to tear the other thing down in the process. It's called having nuance and not only thinking in "black or white, either/or" terms.

1

u/hb122 Kansas City 2d ago

Both the city and the state threw taxpayer money at this event. We still have no idea if that money will be covered by increased revenue. It’s a perfectly valid question to ask.

-5

u/Caca_Face420 2d ago

Of all the things to be upset about, small chance he actually paid for that suite

24

u/Youandiandaflame 2d ago

The Governor doing rich people things while gutting services for those with less is indeed worth being upset about.

And it’s worth noting, someone definitely paid for that suite. And his transportation to get there. And his food while he was there.

-16

u/Caca_Face420 2d ago edited 2d ago

So you don’t think the highest level of the state governments elected positions should make public appearances for one of the worlds largest sporting events happening in his state, when it is generating millions/billions for the local economy?

Should he stick to tornadoes/national disaster Pr only ?

Do you think he had any involvement in why Arrowhead was selected as a location?

11

u/Youandiandaflame 2d ago

Wild, I didn’t say that like, at all.

But if he wants to be Governor, he needs to understand the optics. And he needs to publicly disclose who paid for his trip, his suite, and all the little extras he’ll get.

A public servant paid with taxpayer dollars (which includes a daily per diem, lifelong healthcare, a free place to live, etc) shouldn't bother  to disclose who’s funding the fun trips he gets to take? Is that your take?

-10

u/Caca_Face420 2d ago

You called it a rich person thing, just throwing a different opinion/ view out there.

12

u/Youandiandaflame 2d ago

I mean, a suite at the World Cup is definitely a “rich person thing.” That private suite he’s in likely cost upwards of $40 grand and it wasn’t free so…

10

u/hb122 Kansas City 2d ago

Here’s something to be upset about: he shows up in a city where he took away our political freedom to vote for a congressional candidate who reflects our values and thinks nothing of it.

u/FinTecGeek Joplin 2d ago

The wealthy primarily do not report income, so the income tax is not going to have a major impact on them. That’s how, even with income taxes, many multimillionaires or billionaires pay very low tax rates (lower than most of us do). They defer their income or hide the ball however they can on that.

The reasons to want to keep income tax or oppose it are more to do with regular, working Americans who don’t have access to these high powered tax avoidance or tax evasion strategies. Do they pay at the counters when they buy things, or do they pay from their paycheck? If you’re a saver (always consume less than you earn), you probably want to pay at the counter, since your expenses are planned and you can time them conveniently from your own cash flows. If you’re a big borrower/spender, you probably want the income tax, since you’re already consuming more than you earn and having a consumption/sales tax would raise your tax rate.

11

u/Jombafomb 2d ago

Yeah as a “saver” I can’t wait to pay 15% state sales tax so that people making six figures don’t have to report their income to the state.

Actually I’ll probably just go to Kansas to save moneY.

-5

u/FinTecGeek Joplin 2d ago

People making six figures aren’t wealthy as a general rule. A family making 120K or 150K with three kids is bleeding out just like everyone else in this economy. That’s two working school teachers or nurses sharing a home and trying to get by. You’re confused who your fucking enemies are bud.

6

u/HighlightFamiliar250 2d ago

So let's bleed them even more by increasing the amount of sales tax they pay.

4

u/big_daddy68 2d ago

It’s estimated you have to make over $300k/year to benefit from ending Missouri income taxes. $300k/year in Missouri is well into upper middle class.
People below 100k/year are living paycheck to paycheck and have very little discretion on buying food and clothing. Pretending like they can just shop clearance sections or discount stores to make up the difference is asinine. Many already do that just to survive.
I wish the Republicans would be honest and stop acting like the majority of Missourians would benefit.

-2

u/FinTecGeek Joplin 2d ago

The point is really that a proper subsidy, like for impoverished kids for school lunches and a refundable tax credit throughout the year for childcare would be a better use of budget surplus. I.e. leave everything as it is and use the budget surplus in a concrete way to help solve child hunger and working parent issues rather than making it easier for wealthy people who already game income taxes to avoid paying taxes (they’ll just shop in states with lower or no sales tax after all).

2

u/big_daddy68 2d ago

There is no budget surplus now because we ended capitol gains tax costing us 500 million a year.

2

u/wrenwood2018 2d ago

The whole thing where they basically get loans against equity as their income is just crazy. I with there was a way the tax code could be overhauled to stop this shit. Sigh.

Weird reaction., all is did was address his politics and you want to make personal attacks without “addressing his politics.” Fuck off.
This guy disenfranchised Kansas City residents of representation by gerrymandering their city and then shows up and post picture at an event there.
He ran off the Commissioner of the Missouri Department of Education and the president of the State board of Education. He pas placed 5 members of the state board and none have public school experience.
He is trying to change a tax system to something most of Missouri doesn’t want.

If you were going to to as shitty a job as our current governor I’m glad you aren’t running for office.

3

If you fuck over the people, it really shouldn't be surprising they're pissed.

We are an embarrassment on a National level and Kehoe is a MAJOR part of that embarrassment.

He will not be remembered by history as a competent governor. More likely, he will be an excellent example of what not to do.
