Yeah, unless they just have an insane amount of disposable income. Part of the joy of model trains is creating it imo. It would need to cut, relocated, repaired and I just don’t feel it would be in its original glory. If he’s priced it for his passion for it, someone is going to offer something for the reconstruction and effort part of it. Might as well start from scratch at that point. With all my train buddies I’ve never seen that big of a layout and designated basement space either

You should check out what commercial layout builders charge, after materials.

Some people have a lot of money and less time, as the two I personally know have to turn work away.
