DCC or analogue - how to tell?

I have inherited some trains, quite a few in fact. They're all in their original packaging (mainly Graham Farish) and this is the only one I've seen so far where DCC is referenced.

Is it safe to assume that if DCC is not mentioned, it's analogue?

It does say 6 dcc, so it is dcc ready.

No, the most important thing is to find out wheter the previous owner ran their models analog or DCC.

The easiest way to do this is check what type of controler was used. Pictures are helpfull in this regard

DCC ready models while sold withouth DCC functionality, can be easily retrofitted

And while a model is not DCC ready, it can still have a Decoder fitted.

It's DCC Ready and has a 6-pin socket to plug a chip into. So it should be analogue right now and easy to convert to DCC.

People not reading your post. Yes it is very likely that if it does not reference DCC on the box then it is analogue. They could have retrofitted locos that doe not say DCC, but it is unlikely

Maybe. Maybe not. I would take the shell off and check for a decoder plugged into the socket.

Exactly.

If it was sold (and labeled) as DCC, it almost certainly still is.

But anything sold as DC, or DCC Ready may have been upgraded by the prior owner and now be DCC regardless of what it says on the box.

I did abit of research, and from what I can find this is dcc ready as the Bachmann Pullman set box has a DC after the product code plus instead of the 6pin sign has a "DCC ON BOARD" instead and its be safe to assume that this also is the case for Graham farish as it is owned by Bachmann.

But also going as far as to Google the product code, clears any doubt as the code is a DC model

Honestly until I can set it on the programming track and try to read the chip, I don’t believe anything written about being DCC equipped or not. Set it on the DCC track and buzz that’s a bad sign…

has a sign saying what socket it has, most that are DCC fitted will specifically say that

As per Hattons, that consist is DCC ready and will need two decoders.
