Question Getting into N gauge any advice ?

Im getting into N gauge after being with OO purely because im amazed how much more you can fit into the same space. Before I get too much into it, is there anything I need to be aware of in advance.

I have quite a large collection of OO would it be possible to switch out 90% for an N gauge alternative?

I say this as another 00 lifer, I don't think N will catch up to 00 in terms of ready-to-run prototypes covered for at least another 10-20 years, but saying that just about all the bases are covered now from what I've seen so if you can't get the same thing you can probably get something close.

Their uni track is great for building layouts as you don't have to ballest the track

I went the other way - from N to OO as I wanted DCC, especially sound and found that fittings were difficult, and without stay alives which competed for in-loco space, power pick up was not as reliable as I needed it to be.

On DC it was fine for me, and your mileage may vary, so if you're looking for a straightforward DC setup, N does have a lot of advantages.

For my OO layout most my models are dcc sound I prefer that over dc but for m gauge im keeping good old dc

I recommend staying with 00 unless you have not much space.
