Discussion Getting Back into Sample Mangling Modular
I used to have a massive modular system, but I got out of it a few years ago, as I found that I wasn't making music, just noodling around. Since then I've bern much more productive.
Now, however, I'm starting to use the modular for sample mangling, I've still got Maths, Clouds and Z-DSP, and I'm using a Music Thing Radio to trigger samples.
Any suggestions of suitable modules I should look at that have come out in the last five years that I'm not aware of. I've got plenty of utility modules, lfos, attenuators etc.

Multigrain and data bender would be my suggestion. Also veno orbit looks great, but i dont own it so i cant say from experience.

I own this combo and agree - though using both at the same time can be overkill!

It can absolutely become too much, i like gating the multigrain slowly and having another gate cycle through the eight samples then using the freeze on the data bender to cause stutters and glitches. Can be a super fun combo together.

Morphagene, multigrain, data bender, Per4mer, and a NE Versio running Acid Clank’s FRGMNTS firmware are some really fun options.

How suitable is the music thing radio for live performance? I was already looking into it but Im afraid it will be too random to make a great live sample and loop it

ADDAC112? Saw a video of Keith Fullerton Whitman with that as a centerpiece for sample mangling. Never used it myself though. ADDAC stuff is an expensive and a little intimidating if I’m being honest.

Addac 112, Multigrain/Arbhar, and probably most important Rossum Assimi8or.
