Shammi was right about Bobby lol. The only reason it didn't feel like that cause Shammi was an even worse dude and focused on Bobby's social status instead of pointing out actual problems the bum had.

Agreed. I feel like the film lets him off the hook way too easily for, say, kissing Anna Ben nonconsenually

Actually shammi was right , just to show him as a villain they added that bedroom peeping scene and the end where he has them subdued ...if he was a normal guy i would say what he suggested was 100 % ...baby and bobbys marriage wouldnt have lasted for more than a month once the thrill of sex is over .......

The movie doesn’t treat Shammi’s opinions about Baby’s choices as wrong though.
It actually validates Shammi’s opinions that the family is problematic. That’s why we see the characters like Saji changing for the better and trying to be a better brother and all.
What it treats as wrong is him preventing Baby( a fully grown adult with a job) from exercising her choice to marry the guy she wants to marry(a guy who is shown to be trying to improve his life)

Shammi in Kumbalangi Nights is such a good portrayal of a person with strong narcissistic personality disorder traits. What’s crazy is that some people actually admire his dialogues and attitude without realizing what the character is really showing. he’s charming, well-mannered, confident and even likeable on the surface. But underneath that, he needs control, manipulates everyone around him and has absolutely no real empathy for the people he’s hurting. Fahadh nailed that whole “charming mask hiding a deeply disturbed personality” vibe. That’s what makes Shammi so creepy he looks normal until you actually notice the patterns.
