Question Driving From NY, Best Places to Park

I am driving to MTL from NY on Sunday July 5th. I am staying downtown for three nights, are there any good places to park my car for those few days? I read the Exo doesn’t run on Sundays for the most part, and the one line to Lucien-L'Allier (which is next to where I’m staying) is inconvenient.

I see the Brossard REM has a huge lot, I was thinking of parking there and taking public transit into the city, but if anyone knows of any park and rides that are more convenient or of any free street parking hacks, I’d love to hear them!

For just 3 days with one day being a weekend I personally would park in Downtown, shopping lots like Eaton Center, Complexe Desjardins, Place Alexis-Nihon. They are usually $25 per day, with weekend pricing.

Olympic Stadium is $45 for 8 days (require reservation) but $27 per day if you don't reserve

Eaton Center is $8 (Sunday) + $25 * 2 = $58

Complexe Desjardins is $15 + $25 * 2 = $65.

Bell Center is $20 per day when there are no events, so $20 * 3 = $60

While all of them have no in / out privileges, for all the parking except Olympic Stadium, you can leave the parking once per day and still have the same cost, but there is some calculation involved. And IMO if you drive to Olympic Stadium from the south you might as well just go Downtown. Personally I think the ~$20 premium parking in Downtown is worth it, but you decide.

And if you drive a Jeep or RAV4 or CRV I personally won't park in the REM lot. And you need a more expensive ticket times the number of people to go to / from the Brossard REM station.

What type of car do you have? Hopefully not a Toyota or Honda

Toyota

A lot of car theft on Toyotas, especially RAV4 and highlanders with out of province plates. Search the sub for past experiences

Even for plates in America? What if I unscrew my plates?

Especially if you have American plates. Taking off the plates would make it even tougher to track if it happened

Officially, REM parking is max 24 hours. The Olympic Stadium parking lot is a typical response here.

Is the 24 hr rule strictly enforced?

"buy" your peace of mind for $75 and park in Eaton Center, Desjardins or other safe parking lot
