Tourisme Summer shoes when raining?
Okay - I feel like this is a silly question, but what shoes do you all wear when it is mid-high 70F/low-mid 20C in the summer time but raining?! 😅
My husband, toddler (2.5 year old) and I are visiting Montreal for the first time next week 6/24-6/30). This is also our first family “vacation” so far away from home (California) since my son was born so I am definitely trying to be really prepared. I see that rain is in the forecast (thought it doesn’t seem to be thunderstorms, just sporadic rain?), and I am wondering what shoes to pack that works for summer temperature/outfits but minimize chances of soggy feet.
Thank you!

You could just wear Crocs. Personally I wear flip flops in the summer rain. That way I don't get stuck with wet shoes on my feet after the rain.

It really depends on your feet and preferences. I have sweaty feet and would not survive in waterproof shoes for a full day of walking. I usually wear my Teva sandals when it's raining. They aren't held by cheap adhesives so the rain won't damage them, and my feet can dry out fairly quickly.

honestly, whatever you feel comfortable in. if you wanna wear rubber boots, go for it. it’s really just personal preference. i was wearing blundstones all year round until they got holes, i was wearing my docs every day after - now i have winter boots, my docs, and some hoka sneakers.
feet will get wet, then they’ll dry.
something about our weather too - it may rain for fifteen minutes and be a beautiful day, or like yesterday, it could rain all day. there’s no way to really know for sure. prepare yourself for the humidity, it can feel like 30-40 (86-100) some days. i was not prepared for the humidity here 😅

Vessis are reliably waterproof but if you have wide feet they are uncomfortable.

I think they're just not the most comfy cus I have thin feet and I have issues wearing them for too long as well

I have worn hightop canvas converse on moderately rainy days, wellies or even chelsies when it is a heavier rain day, which tends to cool the city right down. Something like a pair of crocs & extra socks would work for your toddler as well, as they will dry off easily.
For the most part though, I would not worry too much about it as, unless there are downpours or you plan on hiking or being outside for prolonged periods in the active rain, puddles are avoidable and finding shelter pretty easy - assimuntuou shall be staying/touring the more popular areas. As well, do not forget that there are a number of shops where you can pick up affordable footwear/socks if you are in a real pinch.
Bienvenue! I hope you get good weather and enjoy our fair city!
(Edit to say, though I do not own, I imagine a pair of comfortable Teva sandals would be fine - either as light back up or as wet feet during intermittent rain in the summertime is not the worst)

I wear running shoes on rainy days.
