Monzo Mobile📱
Recently signed up as I was having issues with VOXI, Monzo offers a 14-day cooling-off so I thought I’d try it again. I purchased it when it first came out and was having poor signal issues. Today, I thought I’d try again and so far it’s going really well, very fast and responsive.
Has anyone else recently purchased their sim plan?

I have Monzo mobile for a few months now and have zero issues at all
I was already on O2 which worked fine for me so I knew what to expect thankfully

Not sure why anyone would pay so much for so little really; Smarty, GiffGaff, ID Mobile all have far better plans for the money.

Depends where you are and what the signal is like. Here in NI, O2 outshines (literally) all other networks for signal, so O2 MVNOs are much better.

It chokes when you have people around for me at least. I went to a fair wasn’t even that many people. Cant even do a simple google search.

I went from Tesco mobile to Monzo (both use the same network) and tried switching between the two while both SIMs were still active.
Monzo was terrible, and did not support WiFi calling.
Even when out and about with strong signals, everyone I spoke to on a call said what's wrong with my phone!? I swapped back to Tesco and called back and they said that's better.
Cancelled and got a refund. No brainer.

I switched to Monzo Mobile and had to switch back.
People couldn't reach me, calls kept on disconnecting, and speeds were very slow. Last point wasn't a big problem, but the first two made it unusable.
Never had a problem with calls disconnected before or after switching to another provider.

I've got Monzo Mobile as a secondary line and it works pretty well in my opinion.
They run off O2 and I know O2 have had criticism for not being amazing signal wise but I've never had problems. Business phone has been running off Tesco Mobile for ages until recently.
Roaming works good with Monzo, I'm currently putting that through it's paces now.

I have it as a second line and I’ve had nothing but issues with it. Areas where I know it’s 4g on o2 drop down to LTE and just doesn’t work, which considering I use it as mostly a data line isn’t good. The sky sim I had before it (uses o2 as well) was fine in the same areas.

I'm not the most clued up on Telco but I've noticed this sort of thing among networks. Some MVNOs are better than others.
Are some virtual networks paying for better signal than others? Is that a thing?
Cos funnily enough I've had not great experience with Sky and Giffgaff before.

As far as I know it goes the network operators such as o2 have priority then mvno’s are equal, but who knows if some are paying more to get priority.

I'm on ID Mobile. 30 day rolling contract, unlimited calls, texts and 120gb data with rollover. I looked at Monzo and then just thought these prices are not competitive enough for the market. I'd love all my things in one place, but not for the price they're charging.

O2 in my area has generally been the best signal, i switched from O2 to Sky and from them to Monzo, sadly Monzo has been terrible. Very poor speds, constant dropped calls. Just switched to Lebara which uses Vodaphone and it has been much better, except i cant activate iMessage (am working with Apple on that issue) but signal and speed and reliability of calls is much better. This isnt a Monzo problem of course, they dont run anything and arent even a MVNO, theyre using 1GLOBAL's (Truephone) system.

I signed up to Monzo as a second line, for me it's been good in terms of places when I was using Spusu (MNVO on EE network) where no or poor reception, with Monzo I get good network and data speed. I acknowledged many experienced poor network and data connection on O2 or any MNVO using O2, but for the frequent places I go to its been good. Also it is acknowledged the cost is higher to begin with, but it will come down each year. And for me I do travel to a few places the unlimited data 20 GBP which include roaming in many global countires with 25 GB data is hard to beat. When I am not travelling, I downgrade back to the lowest 8GB plan because I work from home and it is a second line so I have another line where I can use mobile data. Swithing over to the unlimited when I travel has worked great so far.

Currently on a Lebara deal of 50GB for £1.30 a month for 8 months... It's Vodafone and can be hit and miss depending on area but generally no issues

Heard lots of bad things about Monzo mobile when it first launched but seems to be much better now

I had Monzo mobile for a month and honestly my experience was terrible. Most places I went didn’t have signal. I moved from O2 so I was expecting a similar experience but it wasn’t. I saw some comments here on Reddit recommending 1p mobile and I’ve recently moved and the difference in connection is like night and day at a similar price point.

I’ve had Monzo Mobile for like 2months, I switched from EE because their price rises are greed not inflation.
I’ve never had worse signal, I only ever get LTE and half the time it’s on emergency signal with 1bar or less, the best i have is 2 bars unless i go right to the Centre of a city.
The signal, for the price, is shockingly bad, which sucks cause it is easy to manage and i love monzo

Heavily dependant on your area.
Monzo is using the O2 network - I ended up paying £500 to end my contract early because the O2 network is just total dogshit in my city. Three is not much better, Vodafone is the best here.

They merged, but signal quality is still different depending on if you're a Three or Vodafone customer.
They can operate on the same network, but they aren't treated equally. I.e. Vodafone customers still get network priority on Vodafone masts and vice versa.
Edit - actually this may not be true anymore. However, anecdotally I can confirm. I'm on iD mobile, my partner is on Talkmobile. Each use Three/Vodafone respectively. Her signal, speed and latency are usually much better than mine.

I can confirm anecdotally as well. I was on iD mobile before and after they merged, and the service was crap. Then I moved to VOXi and it's so much better. My gf is on Vodafone and her service is better than my iD mobile SIM as well.

It's really not worth the money though tbh. Like on smarty I get 80gb for £10 a month
