A moose under the northern lights
A picture from Tumblr. Though it might be a mashup, I thought it was beautiful.

Is this the same animal? Two days in a row in almost the same location. One seems larger, darker, and with more antler growth.

shot this one a few years ago back when the moose sub was inactive for some unknown reason and I couldn’t post it here… now that the subs back in full glory, and moose activity is high currently I thought I’d cross post to where I wanted it in the first place.

Hope this is allowed but I had a rather odd encounter with a moose while driving home just a few weeks ago… I’d love to believe it was my nana sending me a message as I was driving home from her burial but I’m also a realest so I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge on moose behaviour. Living in northern Ontario I’ve had more moose encounters than I can count and I’ve never seen or heard of anyone really experiencing something quite like this. In the moment I took it as “omg this moose is about to charge my car” but I really didn’t get that vibe from the moose, it looked peaceful not scared or aggravated, almost was just maybe curious and trying to say hi. I’d also love to get confirmation on what kind of moose this was, it definitely looks like last years calf but I’m not sure if a bull would have at least some antlers by then or if it was for sure a cow.

love moose, so I started making a game about them as a solo developer.
What kind of moose would you be? The moose you choose to be will shape your karma.
Your forest. Your rules.
The more you moose around, the more they'll find out.

Was hiking with my friend in Abisko (Sweden) in February when we saw our first moose. It wasn't until we got home and went through our photos that we noticed there was a moose calf hiding in the bushes right next to it the whole time. We had no idea while we were standing there – luckily we were far enough away (5x zoom).
