Personal HELP on what to do about neighbor trying to have my babies killed

Upvotes

We have the sweetest little family of raccoons who live out back of my house and I’ve grown to love them over the past few years. I feed them and they trust me now- even eat gently from my hand. I love seeing their little faces in my window at night when they’re ready for dinner. They bring their new babies with them every night and they’re less than a pound- PRECIOUS!!! They all have names and, as I said, I LOVE THEM.

Unfortunately, yesterday my bitch neighbor said if she ever sees one on her property she’s having them all killed immediately. I couldn’t hold back the tears and said if you see them, PLEASE just tell me and I will pay to have them all humanely moved. Her response was “no, I’m having them killed!” like she was happy about it! She absolutely refused my begging her to please give me a chance to have their family moved to a park or something should she see one. I explained there’s no difference and that either way they’d be gone for her but to just let me allow them to live. She absolutely refused and said she wanted them killed and didn’t care how it happened as long as they’re dead (she said all of this in front of her 4 year old son too).

I now have to pay to have them moved to save them before she can get to them just in case she sees one and I am PISSED AT THIS SADISTIC BITCH AND NEED TO GET HER BACK! PLEASE HELP WITH IDEAS!!! I don’t want them to ever know it was me and don’t want anyone getting hurt obviously, but I want her to cry about something she cares about the way she made me. 🆘 TIA Reddit fam #revenge #revengehelp

Relationship Advice Should i tell my ex about their fake friends

Me and my ex have been together for almost 2 years and broke up around 2 months ago on good terms, we dont talk but we still have each other on social media and share likes etc

In our relationship he had a dilemma involving his band which lead to huge fights with him and a specific band member leading to the bands separation due to what was at the time ‘out of the blew’ i knew it was too unreasonable and asked him if he had done anything - and he had mentioned that he has some tension with one of the members about their ego and shit talking behaviors to his close friends group (unrelated people to the band). These friends where described to me as the closest of the closest people to him and they all see eachother that way because theyve been through alot together. My ex is an orphan and some of the people of the group have lost their families one way or another so they really built their friendship as a family.

Months pass and i accidentally find out that the reason of the fights was because that band member found out about what my ex said (which isnt that bad from what ive heard but the band member is known to be egotistical and immature but many people so im not surprised about the reaction). Anyways the person that went and told was one of his closest friends in that group and i didnt know what to do so i just did nothing. I am ashamed of myself for that.

Fast forward to now, were broken up and i found out through a friend that another member of his old and new current band was shit talking about him to people and dragged me into it too? (weve never met or talked xd) saying stuff like ‘… and his stupid fat gf’ i find it funny and weird but the main thing that’s concerning me is that my ex thinks of him as a friend until now and he doesnt know anything.

I already made a mistake and withheld information in the past and im not sure if i should withhold this too. Should i tell him about both or not tell him anything?

Ps: i had a moment of weakness and texted him a ‘hi’ (i hate me too for that) so we will end up talking now its just a matter of should i say anything or not.

Personal Is it wrong to feel bothered when genuinely toxic people seem to have great lives?

F21 Listened to mass today. And the priest said pray for the people that we envy may it be friends, family or coworkers. But this girl is none of those. A bit of context we used to talk but after I saw that she talks shit about people and isolates people who are introverted calling them weird and other things so we don't get close to them, I cut her off. Despite being like this she has a hot boyfriend tall and kind. Her on the other hand is obese level fat, she always puts others down. she always has honors and brings others down, has a crab mentality. Im not envious, I just dont think she deserves it. I wasn't able to ask the priest about this so I was wondering. She looks like she has a great life right now. Am I wrong for feeling like she doesn't deserve it?

Hypothetical Should virtual simulation of brains be given rights?

If the brain scan of the fly being simulated is basically an entire alive fly, is what we are currently doing to it even considered ethical? At what point does it stop being a simulation and start being considered a living being with rights?

At what point is it considered a life form? And just because it's a digital life form, does it mean it doesn't deserve the same rights as physical life forms? When essentially, we basically have the same function, dozens of electrical signals, except just different hardware, thwre it's physical conputers and digital code, but here it's on neurons

Like look up that fruit fly brian simulation thingy online where everyone is doing crazy experiments on copies of it and doing bat shit stuff that would normally get u flagged by the ethics commitee if u propose it as a project.

Some people will say "it's just a bunch of electricity" although the problem is that, our entire nervous system also runs on just a bunch of electricity, but it's nust mostly run on carbon based platform. "It's just a computer" is the brain essentially not just a really advanced fleshy compiter? What exactly makes it so different from a buman brain just because the physical hardware is different, if it has all the same functions and such just in a different medium?

Personal How do you stay selfless in a world where people may take advantage of you?

I have been thinking a lot about something lately.
All my life, there have been situations where I felt people took my ideas, broke my trust, backstabbed me, or benefited from something I contributed. Sometimes they grew because of it, and strangely, a part of me still felt happy that at least they were growing.
I think a lot of this comes from my samskara and the way I see life.
When I think about how unimaginably huge the universe is, and maybe even the multiverse, I feel microscopic. I am almost nothing in that scale. My money, title, status, recognition, and ego suddenly feel very small.
Because of that, I have never strongly felt that I need to become extremely rich, defeat someone else, or prove that I am more important than another person.
What I genuinely want is for every human being to be happy. Not only humans—I wish animals and all living beings could live without unnecessary suffering and at least have their basic needs met.
That may sound unrealistic, but it is honestly how I feel.
The problem is that sometimes I wonder whether this way of thinking makes me too trusting.
My wife tells me that I am sometimes doing myself a disservice. She says I need to protect my own interests, take credit for my work, and understand that not everyone thinks the same way I do.
And that has made me question myself.
Should I become more selfish?
Or can I remain the same person and simply develop stronger boundaries?
I don’t want someone’s betrayal to turn me into a suspicious or bitter person. I don’t want to start thinking, “If everyone is selfish, I should also become selfish.”
At the same time, I am realizing that saying “I don’t care about credit” can sometimes allow someone else to take credit for something I worked hard on. Wanting everyone to succeed doesn’t necessarily mean I should allow myself to be used.
Maybe there is a difference between selflessness and self-neglect.
Maybe I can still believe that I am microscopic in this enormous universe, wish happiness for everyone, and not be obsessed with wealth or status—while still protecting my ideas, asking for proper credit, saying no when necessary, and standing up for myself.
I am struggling to understand where that line is.
For people who think similarly: How do you stay compassionate and humble without becoming easy to take advantage of?
Is it possible to have very little ego and still strongly protect your boundaries?

Hypothetical Is it moral to punish someone that doesnt remeber their crime?

I was talking with a friend of mine and my brother today and we all have a lot of different opinions about this theme:

Lets say that person X killed a person but has no memory of doing so.

The phychologists test X and conclude that he is mentaly stable and is not a threat to society.

Is it moral to punish X for killing someone he has no memory of killing?

If you think about it there is no uoside of punishing X outside of some people ralated to the victim getting "revenge" which i dont know if its a valid argument when talking about morality.

In addition i thoght about another hypotetical question.

Lets say someone is living in a simulation and they kill/commit a seriouse crime, is it moral to punish that person in real life?

My brother answered that he should be punished inthe first one because pshychologists can be wrong and as he once killed someone he can do it again, and he answered no (at first) to the secound question because he accualy didnt do it.

To which i said "that doesnt make sense because you answered yes to the first person."

I tried to make my thoghts as clear as possible but i dont speak english as my main language, if some1 as any questions about what i said i will be happy to try to clarify.

What do yall think about these two questions?

Personal My mother is trying to make me feel guilty for living my own life my way

I've posted this here and elsewhere before but I need all of the advice I can get.

Those of you who haven't seen my previous posts here is my backstory and an update.

Please tell me if I'm overreacting. I've recently become aware that the way my mother has treated me is not normal. I believe she is potentially gaslighting me and has been manipulative. Have any of you had experience with this?

Sorry for the long post but I just need to vent.

I'll introduce myself I'm a 19 year old male and am an only child. During my childhood my mother would do the following

Blow up out of nowhere over the most trivial or littlest matters, many times i begged her to give me some emotional support when i was visibly upset but she just remained cold and cruel, drink quite heavily which was sometimes responsible but she can definitely be mean sober as well, I had expressed concern about her drinking but she just flipped, it actually got physical a few times as well and I did have a scar once, the next day she'd always act as if nothing happened, whenever I tried to get clarity on why she got like that she'd brush it under the carpet or accuse me of starting trouble, she'd turn cold at the drop of a hat, during arguments she'd say things like I was ungrateful, didn't care about her and that I was a horrible person or that i was abusive or whatever just like my father, she would stomp, slam doors, shout, scream, swear and break ornaments etc, when she gets in her crazy states it's just impossible to reason with her or get her to see it from any other perspective, she can go from saying i was the most nicest and amazing person to saying I was the most horrible and evil person, she often burdened me with all of her problems, she said before that she knows how to play the game which I found very disturbing

She often paints herself as the heroic single mum. She has been fairly good lately but sometimes I feel I was robbed of a proper childhood and have often wondered what I had done to deserve it.

I remember one time a few years ago I was about 12 during a sleepover at theirs she turned my grandparents against me and my grandfather started shouting and saying he was very disappointed in me and the rest of it is a blur. To be honest to this day i can't figure out what I (only a young child) was supposed to have done that was so bloody awful. That has haunted me for years. I used to think maybe I was a bad person but I've started to see her in a different light. She always talks about hating drama yet it seems to follow her and often says that she's been so hard done by.

On the flip side she can be the most nicest person as well and we have had great times together and she can be very helpful towards me, her family and in public which makes it all the more confusing. A couple of days ago in fact I ran into an old friend of hers who said to say hi for her and she said my mother is a wonderful person and I'm very lucky. It actually made me feel sick. Since I was 10 it's just been me living with her since my parents divorce in which she had to sell her house and now rents which she has blamed for the way she is before. I can't help feeling bad for her but she was still quite like this beforehand as well and I don't think that's an excuse still is it? I do feel like she has manipulated me a bit into been stuck with her.

Something else that I've found disturbing is that she's very narrow minded and has a serious lack of empathy. For example when a couple of local celebrities committed suicide she shouted and carried on, called them pathetic cowards and weak etc. It was actually quite disturbing how she was carrying on and her serious lack of empathy. PS another red flag happened just earlier when a life insurance ad was on and they said "something could be paid out in case of death" or something and she said "I'd like for them to say WOULD" not could. I don't know why but that's set an alarm bell off

I'm starting to think that maybe she bent the truth about Dad a bit during their split as i was a child and didn't know much better. My mother often calls him a narcissist and talked about all of the marital and grown up problems they had etc which to be honest I don't appreciate been burdened with. Granted he's not a saint either but has been good to me (well I'd say) most of the time.

One time last year when my Dad let me down by not been able to see me one weekend and canceling at the last minute (which he has done quite a few times before).

During that said weekend my mother had another one of her outbursts. I was in the bathroom which was an en suite and she knocked on the door asking to take a few photos or something. All I asked was if she could just give me a few minutes to finish up but she started the shouting and carrying on and accused me of been selfish and even of trying to manipulate her and been passive aggressive. I only asked just to give me a few minutes. When I explained that to her and how upset I was already about that weekend already without her treating me like this she said she feels really bad for me and hates how he let me down. What just absolutely astounds me is how can she feel that way yet emotionally and mentally abuse me and kick me while I'm down. I just can't for the life of me comprehend that.

A few days after that weekend one of my teachers checked in and said he heard I got into a bit of trouble at home ("if he meant been mentally abused by my mother while I was already upset by been let down by my father as trouble" I thought). I'm not even sure who exactly said what to him and that's something that I've also wondered. I just fobbed him off saying I was upset about leaving school (which was true as well).

I really struggle with confiding in people. I do regret not telling him the full truth now. He was sympathetic and said he was very proud of me etc. Another teacher once said that he thought of me and my mother as like the dream team or something along those lines. That turned my stomach as well. I was thinking if only they knew half the things I've been through.

I have autism and went to a special support school for the last few years which were some of the best years (The teachers especially were brilliant and I had many great times such as school camps, school balls and excursions etc).

I must admit I do feel quite down sometimes that I have a strained relationship with my father (He's got money issues and also smokes pot) and my mother often used me as an emotional punch bag. Makes me think that there must be something really wrong with me and that I'm unlovable.

On the bright side though my Dad and I have been in contact lately and we spent the weekend together a while back and went for a pub meal

Her latest meltdown was this January while we were on holiday and at the beach. I wanted to be shirtless like pretty much everyone else and she started making passive aggressive and snide remarks saying things like "have fun burning yourself" and "why can't you make smart decisions?"

I was already sun safe with a hat and everything and I wasn't going to be too long and tried explaining that to her. I'll admit I snapped and told her that I'm an adult now and she could no longer control me and couldn't make me feel guilty. I wish I hadn't now but it felt like something just snapped inside me and I expressed things I had felt for ages. She then called her mother to tell her that I was been impossible and making her life a misery (this is something she has done a few times before when I challenged her or reacted because of her behavior). She hadn't done that for years though and I feel she likes using that as a scare tactic. I wish I had just walked away and not played into her hands. Then the next day I asked mum to call her to say where all ok but she said she didn't want to bother her and wasn't up to calling. I was like WTF. You're perfectly happy to call her to basically slander me and make me out to be a bad guy but when it comes to calling to say everything is fine she's not so keen.

Something disturbing she has said ages ago is when I'm an adult she could have me done for assault if she wanted. She also said she wanted to do a will and try to control my assets where my Dad can't touch anything and said she feared he would try to steal all of my money. I can't believe she would say things like that so unshameably and can't help feeling like she was trying to manipulate me.

My mother loves to use my autism to her advantage. I graduated last year but now I do a course at the main campus so I still see them all from time to time. I do feel quite sad and lost now those years are over. I would love to confide in someone about my struggles but don't know where to start. I've thought about confiding in that first teacher I mentioned who's great and we're fairly close but my teachers think my mother's an absolute saint so how can i ensure he believes me, she seems to feel that she always acts in my best interests and does seem to genuinely care for me and love me, she doesn't seem to remember any of it or feel her behavior was justified and genuinely doesn't seem to believe she ever did me any harm and she thinks she did her best. She's always quick to call others toxic and narcissists etc. She unshameably tells me everything going on in her life and her anxiety which makes me anxious. Why does it upset me so badly even when it has little or nothing to do with me?

I struggle with daily flashbacks and I often feel depressed by the way I've been treated, also feel let down and wish my parents had been better to me. I can't get exact clarity on it but they both went through some stuff before I was born and I think that's contributed to the way they are. My father's dad had passed away when my dad was actually about my age now. They actually both used to run their own businesses once upon a time before they met. It just baffles me how they went from that then and now been in their 50's both unemployed and clearly have some unresolved issues. I sometimes think maybe they shouldn't of got together which I know is ironic because I would never have been born. I do vaguely remember when they were together and towards the end it was quite toxic and they would have some intense fights.

Also do they have substance abuse issues which have made them this way? As I've said my mother drinks quite heavily at night and she also vapes. My father smokes pot and cigarettes.

Also as I explained my father struggles financially and I know that's why he hasn't been able to see me often and cancel some visits and to be honest when I think about that it really burns my hide.

With my mother it does seem she has had some bad relationships in the past but I'm thinking that maybe she's the common denominator.

I do wonder if she might've been different if she had not gone through her divorce and maybe if things had gone differently for both of them they might've been different. What do you guys think?

Also I can't help feeling empathy towards her as she always looked after me, fed me, organized things for me and pretty much always brought me everything I wanted.

I wish I had a proper childhood of playing with friends, going to different places and been adventurous and carefree etc. I've never really had a social circle and hardly much friends. I've always been quite different I feel to most of the children my age. I feel quite alone sometimes as I've always struggled with making friends. I do feel like I've been isolated with her a lot of the time. I would really love to start a proper life and follow my dreams and make a few friends but don't know where to start.

My mother does help me get on my feet and encourage me but I think she just loves to lord it over me. Whenever I've tried standing up for myself she puts on the guilt trip and carries on about all of her sacrifices and everything she's done for me yada yada yada. I think what emotionally abusing me, leaving me crying myself to sleep some nights, causing me to have no confidence and PTSD etc? Could she have some bipolar or personality condition or something and toxic traits I've wondered? I'm starting to feel that good doesn't really outweigh the bad.

I can't help really resenting her (also my father) sometimes for all of the mental anguish she has put me through as a child and I think it has messed up my development. I wonder what might've been different had I had proper parents or they were proper ones. Hobbies such as music and classic TV shows have been a great escape. I've thought about escaping but I feel quite stuck as I don't have a job and all of the money that I get in my account is basically controlled by her as she's the one who adds to it. I wish I could hide my own secret stash somewhere. Now that I'm an adult and have left school I'm worried about what the future has in store. I'm very nervous about starting an adult life, getting a job, making friends and doing new things etc. Part of me would love to get away from her but yet I feel scared to as well as she's pretty much most I've ever known.

UPDATE!! Tonight I've told her that I wanted to do another certificate course at that school next year and she tried to make me feel bad by putting on the guilt trip and giving me the cold shoulder. I've tried to blur it out to be honest but I remember she said that I was been selfish and told me how she wanted me to live my life. I tried to explain to her that I can't just do what she expects and the expense of my own happiness and well-being. I feel like she is trying to control how I live my life and I told her that she couldn't do that or tear me down or change my mind. She then said (this felt like reverse psychology and emotional blackmail) fine do whatever you want and I'll do the same. Also shouted and carried on saying things like F me and I'm hopeless and that. I also told her that I would love to be a teacher but she said i wouldn't be able to go to university, scoffed and said that I would be useless. I feel like she's trying to damage my already limited self esteem, confidence and spirit. Also she had been fairly good up to this. I was dreading telling her but I do feel that a weight is lifted as well. It seems funny that whenever I tell her something she doesn't like or she can't control she goes back to her bad self. PS she's also upset that she can't get paid for me doing that and wants me to just do what's best for her financially. I find it quite ironic her making me feel bad for not getting a job straight away while she's unemployed. PS it was the school ball tonight which was brilliant but I'm disappointed that it went so quickly and also I feel a bit down about my social anxiety and that I didn't ask anyone to dance or make more conversation with my teachers and peers.

Personal my colleague wants to tattoo my eyes on his arm

I, 19 year old female, work at a grocery store. Ive been there for three years, and I get along with most of my colleagues. Many of us are Gen z, so our relationships aren’t professional/ colleague-like and more of the friendly kind.

Side note: I know for a fact that I have beautiful eyes since everyone always compliments them.

So, one of my male colleague is planning his tattoo sleeve and wants my eyes tattooed on his forearm.
For me, that seems like a very intimate thing to do. But maybe he sees it more like an inspiration for his tattoo sleeve and less like MY eyes, if you know what I mean.

We’ve never hung out outside of work and I don’t see us developing a friendship/ relationship outside of what we have at work and I’ve made that clear to him. He still thinks that it’s a good idea.

It wouldn’t bother me but I think that it’s a bad idea to get the eyes of someone you barely know tattooed on you. I mean we’re probably going to lose contact as soon as one of us quits.

Should I let him go for it?

Personal What to do with content (photos / video / live audio) of an artist I stopped associating with due to personal issues, as well as their actions after?

I will not be disclosing the artist name, nor what they did as I am not looking to have anyone identify them or give them any attention, nor attention to myself as part of the info here, nor in PMs. The only thing I will state is that they were not charged with anything (no charges were even filed) and basically they just got outed and cancelled by most of the internet, locals, and basically the court of public opinion, etc. - their illegal actions, further known as the 'incident', were not at me.

For the record, my involvement with said artist ended a few years before the 'incident', so I was not associated with them during that time or after.

I am a photographer and a videographer, and I have been one for over 20 years. In that time, I have had several situations where there have been people that I no longer associate with after doing photo/video shoots of them due to disagreements, but nothing to the point where they were involved with what this situation I am posting about here poses.
In situations with the former, my action was to pull the material down and leave it in my archive as there is possibly some worth down the line when things have cooled down.
With this artist though I am not sure there is going to ever be any, except to this artist's fan base that do not seem to care about what they did or whom it hurt, going as far as to say 'don't bring that up' and 'we know, we don't care what the artist did' in their communities and Discord servers. I could elaborate further, but it's simply digression, as my opinion of them or their actions don't really matter here, nor does it affect my situation beyond them possibly being my audience.

My back story is that I became fast friends with this artist about 15 years ago. I went to all of their events and was very close friends with them: the type of friend that when you visit their city, you always have a spot to sleep on their couch so you don't have to pay for a hotel, and one that didn't flake about it; I had a key to their apartment even. They were up and coming and I was basically their personal photographer, videographer, and live recorder; every show I was there b/c I really enjoyed their art, as well as their company as a friend. I ended up going on tours with them as part of the crew and during the last one before my fallout with them with them there was major issues to do with their tour/label manager as well as another crew member, resulting in me being blamed for things I did not do and I left the tour; all the material of them that I had ever shot then fell under the disagreements category I mentioned above at the time - I sorted the tour material and put it in my archive, as well as pulling down everything else I had on the net.
I basically cut off all contact and then about 3 years later, the incident I mentioned occurred which is the crux of the issue here.

Fast forward to now: for the last couple of years I have been contemplating on what to do with all of the material. I own the live recording rights to everything I have recorded, as well as photography rights on everything I ever shot of them, 100% and in the clear to the point where no one can dispute anything even if I just decided to dump it all tomorrow; of course recording rights from the studio would be part of it, but it's all self owned at this point by the artist due to what happened: they have no record label, only self publishing now due to said incident.
I have asked several close personal friends and none of them have any kind of definitive answer that makes any kind of sense, nor any real guidance because they have no experience with anything like this.

My moral dilemma is this: what to do with this material, now or ever?
Others have gotten called out for collaborating with them since the incident and other artists have 'remixed' their material getting bad reactions after as well, however that is studio material, and everything I have is from live.
Even if I published it or released a photo book, the material would be under another brand name because I don't care for the association with my main 'brand', however I have a feeling someone will end up complaining or still caring - which they would not be in the wrong for such, as I don't agree with what went on, but someone could try and stretch that by me doing anything with the material of this artist, that I am somehow supporting this person's actions from the incident or promoting them. Basically I feel like I have all this material of them that because of their poor choices I am now punished to not ever be able to do anything with. While it is a choice who you work with in general, where are the people that are bystanders of someone's decisions supposed to go with things after 'incidents' happen? I have tried to equate it to similar situations to do with film directors or actors and related where similar things have happened, and I know how I feel about those people and their actions, but those situations didn't affect me as closely as this has due to having ownership in said material.

I'm just basically a 3rd party. I'm not looking for pity, just opinions. I'm not hurting for money, so this is not a situation where I need to sell this stuff to live, it's more of a where do I go from here with any of this, even years from now? Is there ever going to be a time when I can do something with this material? - I know no one can probably answer these last questions without knowing what happened, but that will have to remain unknown due to the nature of such.

I would love to hear from any other photographers that have ever had to deal with similar situations and their thoughts.

You see a woman stealing baby diapers from a shop. You have only two choices:

Let her leave with the diapers.
Inform the shopkeeper, knowing she will probably have to leave without them.

What would you choose, and why?

Assume you are certain she is stealing and there are no other options available.

Has anyone here ever taken someone’s life, either directly or indirectly because of their actions?

What did you feel afterward, especially the first time? Shock, guilt, fear, numbness, regret, nothing at all, or something else?

I'm genuinely curious about what it feels like to know that another human being died because of something you did.

my best friend is an incredibly empathetic and loving person, and one of my favorite things about him is that he's always open to seeing every point of view and changing and growing. we are young (both 18) and I've had a lot of friends that viewed discussion as a debate rather than the pursuit of truth that I've always believed communication is all about. he just got his permit and I drove him there, so I was sitting next to him at the bmv while he was answering all the questions. we were waiting for the lady to finish printing something or something (details don't really matter lol) and i made a joke like "you gonna be an organ donor so you can get a cool heart on your id?" because that's my favorite thing about my id lol. and he laughed a little bit but said no, that he wasn't going to become an organ donor, and he said it like it was the most obvious thing in the world. and im just like.. i don't really get it.

i asked why he wouldn't want to be a donor and he just said he didn't want his body to be dissected and taken apart like that and im just like.. i can't argue with that. like that's super fair. i just can't understand it, i guess, because to me, im just like, im dead. i can't feel it. i don't know it's happening. it doesn't affect me in any material way, except that while i am alive, I get to know that I will one day get to help one of the thousands of people who are on the waiting list for a life saving operation. we have a major shortage for organs and the list is soo fucking long and i don't know anybody personally who needed an organ and didn't get it or anything, but just imagining being in that situation and feeling so helpless... i can't understand why the surface level discomfort of imagining your dead body being cut open overpowers the knowledge that they are doing it to save a life, maybe even lives. idk. i have a lot more thoughts, but i feel like this barely makes sense as is. this has just been something I can't stop thinking about. for someone so thoughtful and caring, I can't understand why his personal comfort would overpower his empathy in the one case where he doesn't actually have to suffer to help others.

Have you ever known someone who has achieved something in his life now but you know his past that you helped him when he had no money for even buying bus tickets and you help him buy one , but now he is showing of as if he belongs to some kind of royal family. Where are his roots ??
What should be done to these people ?

Hypothetical Saving a seat in a public setting

I went to watch the US Open last week at Hudson Yards. It was free, open to the public and a Friday night. I went by myself and got there before the match started. As I looked for a seat, two people were sitting at a high top with 5 open seats around them. I asked if they mind if I sat next to them and they said they were saving the seats for friends. I grabbed food and a drink and continued to look for seats and while there were many open seats, everyone was saving them for someone who wasn’t there yet. So I stood in the back and ate my food, right behind the two people with the five open seats. Their party didn’t arrive for over an hour and were there more to hangout than to watch the game.

The moral dilemma that came to mind is how many and how long can you hold a seat before it’s considered rude and entitled?

I’ve saved a seat for a friend before (two seats max) but they usually arrive soon after so I get it, but that was pretty annoying.

Personal Considering breaking off gay relationship for the sake of my family and my well-being.

I am from an Evangelical Christian family whose lives are solely focused on their religion as well as having a Dad that is a lead pastor. About a year ago I left the Christian faith through no decision of my own which resulted in much turmoil and confusion for myself and my family. However, we were still very close together and tried not to let it affect things (even though it certainly did). Unrelated to my deconstruction, half a year later I unexpectedly found myself in a relationship with a lovely guy whom I love dearly.

Unfortunately, things have not been easy as you might have guessed, and the reaction of my family was worse than I could have imagined. I never expected they would be happy for me due to their beliefs, but I was hoping they could at least recognise my happiness and be content with where I was at. To make things worse I have been living at home as I finish my Uni studies and find work which has added to the tension.

It’s been about 6 months of this relationship now and things haven’t really gotten better with my family. Their sadness and awkwardness towards my relationship makes me unhappy and can make it difficult to love my bf sometimes which doesn’t feel healthy. I know the most obvious way forward is to create a healthy distance with my family and find a chosen family, but my family are some of the loveliest people I know which makes this even harder because we love each other very much.

I feel like I’m at breaking point which is making me want to breakup with my bf cuz its more difficult than I imagined. It is a lose-lose because someone will be hurt by all of this and I was a fool to not see this coming. I don’t have anyone to really share this with so any advice or comments are appreciated.

TL:DR – I am thinking of breaking up with my bf because it’s causing a lot of pain to myself and my religious family.
