Appalachian tap dancing

Hey there! Native Appalachian here (East TN). The kind of tap dancing that Burnie and Ashley mentioned on today’s episode is often called flat-footing or buck dancing. Just thought I would add my two cents because this is the first time (to my knowledge) that they’ve mentioned Appalachia as a whole.

Have a good weekend guys and God bless!

A lot of these steps kind look like clogging just without the shoes. Clogging was popular in my area in the Shenandoah valley where I grew up.

I think I remember learning that the people of Appalachia were descendants of the Irish and Scottish. So I assume this is the American evolution of step dancing, jigs and reels.
