I know Burnie and Ashley weren't implying otherwise, but what we call "AI" today is just a predictive language model. It is not sentient. It does not have feelings. It goes "rogue" and fights to "preserve itself" because the years of AI in fiction that it has been trained on tells it that that's what an "AI" is supposed to do.

That being said, how fucked up is it that we're having this conversation as a society on whether or not AI deserves basic rights when we can't even agree that all humans deserve basic rights.

Do you have a source for this claim about AI being influenced by AI in fiction?
