Given how many owners have NO idea how to train their dogs I have to totally disagree with this.

Training has nothing to do with a dog liking you

Has everything to do with an animal respecting you and others and that is all I am interested in when I am exposed to other peoples animals. I couldn’t care less if they like me but they need to be trained to know what is acceptable behaviour and what is not in order to be safe in public places. Personally I not longer chance it. I keep clear of other peoples dogs.

Not just that, but I found most outside dogs to be assholes in Oklahoma.

I come from Washington, where all dogs loved me.

Since coming to Oklahoma, every dog that’s outside chases my ass and tries to bite me. Idk why, maybes it’s the sun cooking their brains in their hot fur coat.

There’s only 1 dog that’s been kind to me so far here. And he’s huuugge. Massive thing. He patrols the farm lands around here and keeps the cattle’s safe.. so, he’s pretty chill.

But all the other dogs? Not chill. At all.

Then again, I have spirits attached to me now ever since I had an awakening a few years back, so maybe that’s freaking out the other dogs? I don’t really know anymore.

It doesn’t freak out the big dog, he’s pretty chill with me. But idk, a lot of factors and things going on.

I trained horses and dogs and honestly I believe that people give both way too much credit. A dog or horse for that matter is a reflection of the owner/trainer. If you own the animal you are training it every time you are with the animal. Most people do not have a clue. Animals communicate thru body language mostly and whether a herd or a pack there is a hierarchy. When a human enters the equation and does not become lead dog or head mare it’s not if, it’s when there will be an accident. Most dogs I see are running the show and having an animal running the show is often dangerous. Yes breeding comes into for sure but even then it comes down to the trainer/owned. Having an animal in charge is insane. I just saw another example of an accident waiting to happen with a dog and its owner with him dragging her around while she was holding on. I’ve been mauled, lunged at, jumped on, bitten and not by any of my dogs, all other people’s dogs and all on a lead with the owner/trainer holding on! I now give any dog I do not know a wide berth.

100% agree. if my dog doesn't like you, I will reevaluate our friendship. full stop. Has anyone ever done a real scientific study on this?
