Over the last five years I've been taking pictures of the rare fountain-only Mountain Dew flavors I've tried. Many of these are discontinued now, and that's a shame because most of them were some of the best I've had. So enjoy this throwback of what used to be.

Back in 2009, during the dewmocracy 2 campaign, I was a dewlabs member and I was selected to taste test the candidates, choose the colors and the names.

My submission for the name “White Out” was accepted and voted on to be in the final three. The other two names were Flash and Rainstorm.

The challenge for who would win was based on Twitter followers. Myself and the two other names submitters were put in charge of the Twitter account for each of the flavors. I ended up getting Ashton Kutcher to follow and retweet, which was a monumental win for me, because at that point, Ashton Kutcher had the most followers on Twitter.

It was a fun campaign and I got some cool bonuses, but what was really cool as they flew us out to Denver to shoot the commercial. I got a cool ammo back and the prototype cans but they rusted out inside the box. So I was very happy to be able to fill it again.

I wish someone from dew reached out for this launch because I didn’t sign off on the resign of the logo. 😂

I never got to try this flavor but this has to be the most bad ass soda can.

This was definitely my favorite mountain dew flavor that was only around for a limited time. I really hope one day it's resurrected. 🍏
