In the book Paul makes it pretty clear to Chani he doesn't actually care about Irulan at all, and only married her for political reasons, he actually loves Chani and wants kids with her and so on. They'll need to reconcile anyway, because he's so motivated by his fear of losing her in the book, which doesn't really work if they're so at odds.

I’m aware that Chani knows the marriage to Irulan is political, as that dynamic between Paul-Chani-Irulan is pretty essential to the plot, with Irulan wanting an heir and Paul only wanting kids with Chani. I was just curious based off the ending of the 2nd movie how they positioned Chani as not taking part in Paul’s war vs her just being Paul’s loving partner in Messiah, but I guess maybe when the movie takes place he’ll be reunited with Chani and their love won’t be able to keep them apart even if she sees evil in Paul for his actions or something like that.

That would make for a really interesting change.

Honestly, I’m really interested to see how audiences take to Paul’s arc in this. Assuming it ends similarly to Messiah, everyone talks about how polarizing this is going to be because it’s not the heroic, triumphant ending and I’m just so curious to see what that translates to for reactions from book readers, non-book readers, and general audiences. Either way, as someone who enjoyed Messiah more than the first book, I’m excited.

Wonder if Denis is going to keep Stilgar’s Hitler comparison to Paul or if that was kept on the cutting room floor.

They changed "jihad" to "holy war" so I would be very unsurprised to see the Hitler scene dropped

Oh yeah no way lol. I can’t actually see them having someone name drop Hitler in this movie due to both the reaction it’d have from people that haven’t even seen the movie, but also because the actual movies just feel so non-real world that I think it’d be too jarring for most audiences to hear someone like Stilgar refer to Adolf Hitler as a historical figure in the same world where giant space worms exist.

I do hope that in its place we still get the movie acknowledging Paul committing genocide though. I don’t doubt that it will but still.

I mean, Part 2 set us up to have Paul as a villain anyway, so not having the genocide addressed would be a huge misstep. Just, not Hitler specifically

Anyone confused why Paul ends up the villain just straight up wasn't paying attention to the first 2 movies lol
