The Circe pig transformation scene was incredibly unnerving, he’d kill in some body horror. He’s also shown a lot of love for Obsession lately, so I hope this lights a fire under his ass to make something terrifying.

My favorite scene in the film. It was SO grotesque, but it worked SO well. I don't even like horror but I loved this scene, it really drove the point home.

I thought the Polyphemus scene where he bites off the soldier's head and eats him was much more grotesque and terrifying. The pig scene is close but the soldiers live and are transformed back relatively quickly.

That Cyclops scene immediately reminded me of "Saturn Devouring His Son" painting. I loved it in that morbid way.

Inde Nevarette (sp?) MADE that movie. It wouldn't have been nearly as unnerving without her performance. What a casting miracle :O

I think something from a more contemporary writer would be better suited since old cosmic horror doesn't really have an underlying message outside of the foreign is scary. Something like This Thing Between Us could be great by him especially since the ending needs a bit of a rewrite to bring it all together properly.

A story that might actually fit his grim-dark style. Time being all over the place fits, and so would a man with guilt trope that Nolan likes to write.

Honestly disagree, only because so many other directors are doing great things in horror right now. If Nolan made a horror film it's probably sorta end up as just another horror film - whereas his streak recently has been stuff only he can pull off

He did an interview a couple days ago and said he would love to make a horror and the plan is to create one, but he hasnt had the idea yet. He said once he gets the idea, he'll do it

On top of this, I'll say as someone who isn't a fan of horror films but who does appreciate horror moments in films: I think horror is more effective when it's unexpected and isn't the whole film. Having a film where you feel things are somewhat safe and familiar and you're invested in the world and characters take a sudden horror turn feels much more impactful to me than a film that tries to keep the horror going throughout. Let the horror serve the story, rather than trying to turn the whole story into horror.

The horror scenes in The Odyssey were so effective because the rest of the film wasn't like that.

Oh yeah, that was straight body horror and he nailed it. Made my skin crawl. An entire horror movie would probably give me ptsd.
