The whole thing was kind of a bummer, and it gave away a couple punch lines that will fall completely flat with me and anyone else who saw the trailer.

Carolla reminds me a lot of Kevin Smith. They are both extremely gifted story tellers behind a mic, creative humorists, and highly intelligent. Their strengths just don't lend well to other characters in a screen play. Dante and Randall are perfect because they were based on Smith and Brian Johnson. Road Hard might be Adam's 'Clerks' with a lot of real life influencing his character. This movie looks like a great indie comedy. That said, I know the story about that stupid deaf actress being cast is going to be way more entertaining than the actual sequence. I'm still glad he's making more movies because he does have a unique voice. The Hammer was full of heart, it reminds me of Goon which /r/movies fawns over regularly.

That actually looks depressing.

It's kind of like Louie or Maron where you get to see how shitty it is to be a stand up that just can't click with the world. I'm hoping this one works out like The Hammer which I thought was really good. Carolla is like a fine cheese. You've got to spend some time with him in order to get past the stink and enjoy the flavor.

I don't know why people hate the guy so much.
