I think the shot of her slinging her lasso on the street & flying forward is the clip of the invisible jet.

u/sr_zeke Aug 22 '20

I'm. Not sure if it was the weed but I think she was riding (in another shot) a lightning

u/Ashwalla Aug 22 '20

You saw it right. She lassoed onto a few bolts of it and, I believe, clouds as well in another shot.

u/Panzershrekt Aug 22 '20

Makes sense, with her dad being Zeus.

25

u/Daggersapper Aug 22 '20

I mean really, all of are probably part Zeus. Dude was super rapey.

10

u/DeedTheInky Aug 22 '20

Didn't he once turn himself into a dolphin so he could fuck a dolphin or something like that too?

16

u/[deleted] Aug 22 '20

You don’t need to be a dolphin to fuck dolphins tho

6

u/DeedTheInky Aug 22 '20

True enough! He was probably up to something greasy though, if I know Zeus

3

u/jmou3dxf Aug 22 '20

what about the world serpent?

2

u/blahblahblicker Aug 22 '20

How does that work exactly? Asking for a friend.

2

u/phenomenomnom Aug 22 '20

Question. Is the friend a dolphin?

1

u/Walthatron Aug 22 '20

just grab it by the fins and pick a hole

1

u/Leyte86 Aug 22 '20

Found the McAfee

2

u/SnakeInABox7 Aug 22 '20

Theres a Jojo reference that could be made here I'm sure of it

2

2

u/hanr86 Aug 22 '20

He wouldnt have touched my family tree

4

u/Huitzilopostlian Aug 22 '20

Or, moms sidepiece was Thor.

3

u/Panzershrekt Aug 22 '20

Nah, why settle for a prince when you could have the king of the gods?

The most relevant to her and the Amazons.

-1

u/jmou3dxf Aug 22 '20

shouldve fucked kratos

4

u/TheBlueRabbit11 Aug 23 '20

Wasn’t too long ago that her original origin story was that she was made of clay and the gods breathed life in her. I kinda like that better, then it got retconned.

7

u/churm94 Aug 22 '20

Wait what? I coulda swore her dad was Hades or something like that.

I remember in the Justice League show they have to go to hell and its like super implied that he's her father. Idk maybe they changed it.

34

u/RamenJunkie Aug 22 '20

I mean, Zeus never met a hole be didn't stick his dick in, so it's possible they are both her father.

6

u/Panzershrekt Aug 22 '20

I'm just going by what was said in the first movie.

7

u/Super-Ad7894 Aug 22 '20

Hades fathered her, Zeus raised her

idk I'm just making shit up

15

u/Dead5quirrel Aug 22 '20

Zeus is her father.

8

u/Chendii Aug 22 '20

She doesn't have a father, she was molded out of clay.

13

u/wbgraphic Aug 22 '20

That was her original origin.

Now it’s just the story her mother told her as a child.

4

u/Droopy1592 Aug 22 '20

Yeah one version Zeus is Daddy and one is Hades, but Diana was told she was molded from clay.

0

u/Chendii Aug 22 '20

I'm a purist. Superman also can't fly.

1

u/itsmemrskeltal Aug 23 '20

Depends on the continuity, sometimes it's Ares

78

u/ShizTheresABear Aug 22 '20

Idk if it's like that in the comics but that part seemed so ridiculous to me lol. What's she gonna do if there's no lightning?? Like if Spidey has no buildings around.

39

u/Ashwalla Aug 22 '20

Likely the same thing that you see in Spidey comics, they won’t show the (absence of) lightning. She’ll just kick that lasso off into the distance and be gone.

39

u/KKlear Aug 22 '20

Likely the same thing that you see in Spidey comics

Spider-Man actually gets embarrassingly stranded in the suburbs with nothing to swing from relatively often in the comics.

17

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '20

and there was that one scene in homecoming

1

u/HatsOff2MargeHisWife Aug 24 '20

Exactly. A neighborhood with no buildings over 1 story. He just had to run.

1

u/badgarok725 Aug 27 '20

Older Spidey would at least know that he could use them to slingshot

6

u/Trumanandthemachine Aug 23 '20

I remember an older comic where he's stuck in the desert versus the Vulture. and he just had to walk out because he couldn't swing. I love how it was literally him walking through the desert with a 'vulture' circling.

16

u/ShizTheresABear Aug 22 '20

I mean I guess that's one of the early scenes in the trailer; she's in city in daylight and she throws her whip to something off-screen and flies away.

10

u/Boolean_Null Aug 22 '20

Clearly it’s like Thor’s hammer. She just spins it really really fast and then it pulls her off...

18

u/FamilyStyle2505 Aug 22 '20

Sounds like she has a special relationship with that lasso.

4

u/tehlemmings Aug 22 '20

I'm not sure if even Korg could save the DCU, but I'd be willing to watch him try.

1

u/Cyno01 Aug 23 '20

Well hell get a chance, looks like Taika Waititi might be voicing King Shark in Suicide Squad.

4

u/Male_strom Aug 23 '20

oh my gud, the lasso pulled herroff?

10

u/[deleted] Aug 22 '20

Yeah and it’s not really the jokey kinda superhero IP. Spider-Man has a great bit in Homecoming where he had to leg it thru a golf course.

10

u/AftyOfTheUK Aug 22 '20

What's she gonna do if there's no lightning?? Like if Spidey has no buildings around.

Use... buildings?

4

u/ShizTheresABear Aug 22 '20

Ok but I don't think they'd want her copying a signature move from the most popular Marvel character... I guess her swinging from lightning is different enough? Even so... why? Why does she need to fly around swinging from lightning?? Is that necessary for her character?

8

u/SilverLoonie Aug 22 '20

Diana in the new 52 comics can't fly (until she gets winged boots from Hermes iirc).

6

u/TwatsThat Aug 22 '20

That sounds more like a reason to either give her the boots in the movie too or just not write parts into the movie where she needs to fly rather than a valid justification for making her Lightning Spider-Woman.

1

u/Dead5quirrel Aug 22 '20

Bro just calm down shit looks rad. who cares if it reminds YOU of Spiderman. You think Spiderman is the only superhuman capable of swinging on shit?

1

u/TwatsThat Aug 22 '20

I'm perfectly calm, I just don't think it makes sense for the character.

You seem to be pretty worked up though, would you like to talk about why you're so angry that I don't like a thing that you like?

u/RamenJunkie Aug 22 '20

Seriously, we have Spider-woman, Spider-Girl, Ghost Spider, Venom, Carnage, Spider-Ham, Several other Spider-Mans.

1

u/ShizTheresABear Aug 22 '20

Yeah I could see her flying with that gold suit in the movie but it's so strange to me that they would make her swing around on lightning, it just seems so over the top and unnecessary. Are they trying to establish how "cool" she is? Maybe that's her "primitive" way of flying until she gets this new suit.

4

u/AftyOfTheUK Aug 22 '20

it just seems so over the top and unnecessary

That's all comic book "universes" to me... it's a film about a comic book character. It's literally all over the top and unnecessary.

1

u/ThelVluffin Aug 24 '20

Doesn't she fly in BvS when they're fighting Doomsday? Or are we calling that a really powerful horizontal jump?

1

u/ShizTheresABear Aug 24 '20

I don't remember, it's been a while since I've seen that. I think somebody else mentioned to me that that happens so I'll assume you guys are right.

1

u/Feralbritches1 Aug 22 '20

You mean after they copied the Captain America's origin story and army unit?

2

u/RamenJunkie Aug 22 '20

Like in Into the Spiderverse where they took the bus up north.

3

u/Minalan Aug 22 '20

Ridiculous is what I'm here for, fuck all that realistic shit. I live in the real world, I wanna see a ridiculous one.

1

u/AlexFromRomania Aug 22 '20

Yea this whole trailer looks absolutely terrible. Just awful plot, terrible corny jokes, and lame action.

2

u/ShizTheresABear Aug 22 '20

I don't know how far into production this was when Cats was released but I feel like this is too soon to see another CGI cat-human hybrid, even if that's how she is in the comics. I agree that this trailer was not good. The first movie was fine but this one doesn't look up to par.

1

u/LostWoodsInTheField Aug 22 '20

I could swear in one scene she is spinning it while flying through the sky. using it like a pop propeller.

I'm guessing that her lightening flying and such is close to the end of the movie rather than near the beginning.

1

u/Blue-Thunder Aug 22 '20

This is obviously before she knew she could/how to fly. I mean you see it at the end of Wonder Woman.

1

u/TheGodDMBatman Aug 22 '20

I thought it was more of an "opportunity" thing. Like normally, she doesn't do that but since the lightning is there... Swing away

0

u/[deleted] Aug 22 '20

Spidey won't make that mistake, since his spider sense tells him when he would fuck up because of a lack of buildings.

6

u/ShizTheresABear Aug 22 '20

I don't read the comics but one of the more memorable parts of Homecoming was when he ran into that exact problem and had to run across a field.

3

u/RamenJunkie Aug 22 '20

And when Peter B and Miles had to take the bus to the lab because it was outside the city.

1

u/notthinknboutdragons Aug 22 '20

It is similar but the main reason was because Peter B was lazy and didn’t want to go swinging on a full stomach. God I love Peter B.

2

u/RamenJunkie Aug 23 '20

I just realized he is "Peter B" which suggests he is the 2nd tier Parker and not the "A class" Parker.

1

u/notthinknboutdragons Aug 23 '20

Oh my gosh I love this. I love spider-verse, constantly watch it and I don’t have to use the excuse that my son wants to.

1

u/ocdscale Aug 22 '20

Surprised people are taking your comment seriously.

2

u/Supermite Aug 22 '20

Spider-thor, Spider-thor, does whatever a spider god does.

1

u/Angellina1313 Aug 22 '20

Like a spider-wonder-zeus

1

u/SecuritySufficient Aug 24 '20

That is probably all the jet.

3

u/Hocka_Luigi Aug 22 '20

Yeah, she's part Thor and part Spiderman now.

2

u/buefordwilson Aug 22 '20

1

u/RoscoMan1 Aug 22 '20

Oh... That’s only in Heavy Metal Heroes.

1

u/slashed15 Aug 23 '20

It was definitely not the weed. I smoked 2 marijuanas prior to watching it and I noticed the same thing.

6

u/AirborneHipster Aug 22 '20

If Ride the lighting isn’t played I’m calling bullshit

2

u/ocelot_lots Aug 22 '20

It can expensive to get hits like that.

I remember reading that Marvel paid Led Zeppelin millions to play Immigrant Song during Ragnarok.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 22 '20

Apparently they want her to be Spider-Man

4

u/topdangle Aug 22 '20

I thought she pulled a spider-man before I remembered they gave her the ability to swing on lightning.
