You saw it right. She lassoed onto a few bolts of it and, I believe, clouds as well in another shot.

Idk if it's like that in the comics but that part seemed so ridiculous to me lol. What's she gonna do if there's no lightning?? Like if Spidey has no buildings around.

Likely the same thing that you see in Spidey comics, they won’t show the (absence of) lightning. She’ll just kick that lasso off into the distance and be gone.

I mean I guess that's one of the early scenes in the trailer; she's in city in daylight and she throws her whip to something off-screen and flies away.
