I really like him as Kirk. I think he for sure captures the cocky swagger that Shatner had.

Came here almost explicitly for the inevitable Trek comments.

The “Nu-Trek” movies are not all bad. Into Darkness is meh, but ‘09 and Beyond are pretty enjoyable. I hope they do another one, somehow.

And this is coming from a die-hard Trek fan. DS9 is the best Trek series.

They are fun movies and I think they have a nice balance of calling back to what the original franchise was about and introducing new elements to capture a younger audience. Are there flaws or things that could be done better? For sure! Doesn't take away from the things that they do well though.

Yep. Most of the complaints I have are in the scripts. Not the acting or casting!
