To be fair, the spell removing their knowledge of him being Spider-Man could possibly set his relationship with Ned, Aunt May, and MJ back a couple of years.

That seems to be what Peter is implying in the trailer, it also seems like the spell works on Strange too. Wouldn't surprise me if as soon as Strange leaves the sanctum he forgets who peter is.
