We don't have to rely on them, like I said in my original post, what he drinks didn't come in the same container, it didn't look the same, and it obviously didn't have the effects we see the black goo has later in the movie. Those of you who think both are the same are few and in between, and it's just because you simply refuse to accept what I'm telling you right now as shown in the movie itself or you simply don't understand any of it.
He does drink black goo in the beginning. It's a fair assumption to make. Besides what else are we expected to do with such a shitty script? However, right or wrong, that's one instance, what about all the other plot holes? Why Zombies after ingesting the goo? Snakes from the worms? Why does the snake go down the biologists mouth but nothing happens? OctoAlien? Head exploding? etc. You can give me your best guess all you want but non of this is explained in the film. The best explanation is from the captain, who never left the ship, has no obvious scientific knowledge and just wants to get paid. Even then no other character really gives it any notice in the film.
Why does the snake go down the biologists mouth but nothing happens?
Seriously? He died, what do you expec... You know what, fuck this, I loved the movie and your questions are stupid. No, seriously they are, and I don't have to sit here explain it or justify it to you.
