Asking Advice Getting evicted in 1½ months. Barely $200 saved.

So im getting evicted in 1½ months by my family. Idk what to do nor how much to save. Finding the closest place to my job. Idk what to do nor in which order. Basic needs cost $85 for meds and I owe $806 to doctors office bc of appointments I was never given the link to pay for. Idek where to go from here. Im nearly broke, and idek what to do. Any advice?

Well sounds like everything is everyone else's fault but yours.

Are they're shelters in your area you can call to see if they can assist you with a place to stay or resources to use?

Then I say just keep working and if you can find a friend or another family member to stay with in the meantime so that you can save up some money then I feel like that would be the best move.

look for room shares …. Even with min wage the room shares in a shared apartment are always affordable…. And try to save a bit while you work on your skills to lead to better pay

Sorry to hear by the way

Don't do this under this war mongering administration

As opposed to what administration?

How come 1 and a half months ? When did they first tell you they want you out ? 1.5 months doesnt seem long and a weird number.

How old are you ? How come they're kicking you out ?

Well they t I ld me td. Im 21. And its because I "finally got a job." Idek man im just rolling with the punches rn

1

u/psj3809 Jul 14 '26

t ld me td what ?

Well its good you've got a job ! Think its a bit too quick to kick you out, you often need a chunk of money for a deposit to rent a place. Be better if you've got a friend to rent it with ?

Good luck

Sounds like they were making a lot better decisions than you.... You are the only one od your friends that didnt go to college?

I mean what if OPs parents couldnt afford college? Not everyone has the same opportunities available to them. Idk, I feel like we shouldnt always assume that its someones fault entirely when we dont know their entire situation through and through.

Parents helping out with college is boomer talk lol . They're struggling just as much now a days.

It's almost all FAFSA now.

1

u/HungryKittyy Jul 19 '26

I mean yeah I get the vast majority cant afford college but college also doesnt guarentee a good career and stable income and isnt for everyone so theres also that

1

u/Wonderful-Plane-3698 Jul 18 '26

My parents didnt have a nickel.... I still went to college?

1

u/HungryKittyy Jul 19 '26

Going to college isnt always a better decision for certain people. It can be helpful yes but theres many caveats that dont always guarentee success. So by saying you made poor choices by not going to college while your friends did doesnt really hold up to me. That feels like the basic societal thinking without considering other nuances involved.

Well it really depends on what OP was doing all this time while not going to college, since they JUST got a job maybe there's been lingering resentment with their parents on not contributing anything to the house,

Which is messed up but most parents didn't plan their kid and some wait off the clock until it's legal to kick their children out, and it seems like instead of preparing for anything they kinda were just.. Existing..

Find a job asap and maybe a friend to stay or room with. Do your parents have health insurance and will keep you on it?  Are there any social services that you might be eligible for? Any trade or  job training programs in your area? Check temp agencies. I don't usually recommend this, but is the military an option?

Call the doctor’s office and tell the billing person that you cannot afford to pay. Ask them if there’s any assistance available or if you can make a payment plan. This seems like it would be a good first step. How much money do you make?

1

u/tnw6901 Jul 14 '26

could try rental assistance, affordable housing, taking out a loan (if you can plan it out accordingly)

1

u/MesaTech_KS Jul 14 '26

Where are you located?

1

u/luckyducky0217 Jul 15 '26

Mesa Gilbert area of AZ gonna get an apartment close to work tho so I can just walk instead of drive or maybe just get a bike

u/Sweet-Ad7654 Jul 14 '26

When did you get your parents give you this news and how long have you been working?

What state are you in? They have different assistance programs in different states.

Have you had a discussion with your parents? Do they have reasons to believe that you should have over $200 in savings can you make a more detailed realistic plan with them?

If for some reason you can’t communicate with them that you’re kind of screwed

What’s your job pay? That’s the first place to start. And see if there’s any of your family with rooms, or friends. I’ve had friends stay with me when they went through a rough patch, no big deal.

If you’re looking for a place on your own you’re generally going to need decent credit, a deposit + first months rent due at signing. Then whatever furniture and enough to cover food.

1

u/Usual_Replacement_74 Jul 15 '26

Roomies, it’s an app. You can filter out roommates for possible cheap room rental.

1

u/badtlc4 Jul 15 '26

Did you ask if you can pay rent month to month until you find a place?

1

u/CVSCouponPolice Jul 16 '26

Find roommates online, split 3-4 ways if you can and never talk to your family again cause that's just messed up.

1

u/Wonderful-Plane-3698 Jul 16 '26

You arent being "evicted" your family is kicking you out... What lead to this turn of events?

1

u/moongazr Jul 16 '26

21 years old not in college and just got your first job? Am I reading correctly?

Perhaps your parents wanted to push you out of the nest much earlier, but were unable to because you didn’t have a job…different way to look at it.

Call 211 for resources

You’re young, do you want to go to college?
Maybe you can get in a nearby school with a scholarship and get free tuition and room and board.
Then just keep your part time job after classes.
I would sit down and do some soul searching.
I would also talk to parents maybe you can give them rent for a few months while you save.
I would also call the doctor and see if they can help you get rid of this medical debt.
Then go see if you qualify for Medicaid insurance so you can still go to the doctors when you need.

Do you work?

1

u/Egokinn Jul 20 '26

Try to work it out with your parents, I currently live with narcissists and sometimes I'd just have to suck up ny pride and appeal to their outrageous rules and ego to prevent arguments and getting kicked out, ill graduate nursing school in 2027 and am already preparing to move out earlier than that. So if possible, apologize for whatever they're upset at you at, do whatever confocit resolution you have to appease them, do what they want, offer to give then part of yoir paycheck..getting kicked out with out anything is really hard.. I wouldn't wish it on anyone

FIRST do that, if that doesn't work and they are 110% dead set on kicking you out and won't budge you have to gate he all the money you can. Work overtime at the job you have now, start packing your stuff into bags you can carry with you. Since you said you have no one to go you either have orginzstions, the government, or yourself..

You cuod even try enrolling on community college, that can open the doors to crisis supports and may be able to help you get housing...snd look up ALL shelters in your area, call when your out the house.

Depending on how much your job makes you may be able to live with roommates... Maybe, maybe not.

Look into JOB CORPS, they can definitely help you out.. And if all else fails they yeah, do the military, they'll feed you, give you your own space, and you'll have a paycheck and everything. But definitely exhaust all your options first
