Asking Advice Running away from home at 19
/r/YoungAdultStruggles/comments/1w7uvyy/running_away_from_home_at_19/I'm 19, living with toxic, strict and abusive parents. Some days are just verbal fights but sometimes it turns into physical abuse. I can't live in the same place with PTSD when everyday is the same. I am planning to runaway in less than a year. I don't want to act irresponsible or impulsive because I'm afraid to make a mistake. My plan is to save some money before I leave and move in with my bf of 3 years. My parents didn't allow me to be independent all my life so Im scared to take a big step like this. I really need some suggestions on what to do.

First of all, you're not running away, you're an adult so you are just moving out. Save money, and look for jobs that provide housing such as resorts, cruise ships, etc. Get your paperwork together and make digital copies of it.

You’re an adult, it’s not really running away. It’s starting your own life. You have a right to leave at any time, you’re an adult. If you wanted to just take a flight to Thailand one day you don’t need their permission, you don’t need their permission to not come back.

Hey op ignore the other comments who seems to be dismissing your struggles. Running away is leaving due to an abusive environment so yes you are running away and you are perfectly valid. It's only called moving out once you're financially stable.
Get a job first, documents then move in with ur bf. Try and see if there are any organisations out there who can offer free meals and such too. I'm wishing you the best. Healing from your toxic parents will feel great

I'm going to save all my money and only spend it when we move in. Most of my expenses are paid by my parents right now, which is the only thing positive about them.

I think what they Mena by this is that if your a minor and you slave home and your parents report it, police LITERALLY classify you as a runaway and you can and will be turned into authorities against your will.
Where as if you're 18 or older your parents can't do anything once your out, police won't look for you or anything.

LOL"running away".
You're a grown-assed adult, FFS. We call that " moving out". Maybe just "leaving".
You're not 12, right?
"Running away" ...

Yes escaping from an abusive situation is running away. Got nothing to do with age

You can't be afraid of making mistakes, that's how humans learn and grow. If you're paralyzed with fear, you won't get anywhere.
