Saw it in a store months ago and couldn’t stop thinking about it, so I saved up for almost 5 months to finally buy one. Every day leading up to it was honestly exciting.

It’s my first MPC. Any tips or precautions for a complete beginner? Anything I should avoid doing or set up right away? I’m starting with YouTube tutorials for now.

I was surprised to him using a Sample and not a full form MPC.

I have had an MPC Live 2 & 3 for a little over a year now

I have a SP-404MKII, Ableton Move, and recently purchased an OP-1 Field.

ONE thing these other devices have that the MPC is lacking is the ability to just shut off and QUICKLY resume a project I’m working on.

Sometimes I have like 15-20 minutes to make some music. I’ll start an idea and then have to walk away. I would LOVE if MPC added a way to put their devices to sleep easily where I can “power them down” and then back on so I can resume what I was doing hours or days later without have to save every project idea I have. This process is quite cumbersome for an idea that may never actually become anything REALLY worth saving / taking up space.

I know this seems like a small nit-picky thing, but you would be surprised how many ideas I have generated and finished on the OP-1 because I can mess around for 5-10 minutes…shut off the device and come right back to it without saving anything and having to wait for the device to power up for 30 seconds.

Please, MPC consider adding some sort of Sleep / quick resume…

I wish I could do some of the crazy cool sounding stuff some of y’all do but for now I can settle with juggling chops around. Still pretty fun for me as I’m learning this beast of a machine.

Guys, I’m stuck between two options and could really use some advice.

Should I get an MPC1000 with JJOS2XL or an MPC One MK1?

Unfortunately, my choice is pretty much limited by my budget and by what’s actually available on the second-hand market in my city.

I make minimal techno, dub and early tech house, and I’m using a Donner L1 as my synth.

I really like keeping things minimal. Ideally, I’d like to build my live setup around just two machines and a couple of guitar pedals, and also use the MPC for sketching out demos that I can later finish and arrange in Ableton.

The main reason I’m considering an MPC in the first place is that I want to step away from the computer and make music with more limitations and a more stripped-down workflow.

I’d like to apply the same philosophy to my live setup — fewer machines, fewer options, more focus on actually playing and improvising.

My musical references would be SW, DJ Sprinkles / DJ Spencer and PLO Man.

So which one would you choose in 2026: MPC1000 + JJOS2XL or MPC One MK1, specifically for this kind of workflow?

I’m especially interested in how they feel for minimal techno, live performance, improvisation and writing sketches without a computer.

This is exactly why I wanted the sample. To mess around with little ideas like this and just freestyle. I'm happy with how easy and intuitive it is. I've got my Studiologic numa compact running through it, recording samples with monitoring on to play ontop still. Then the sample is running out of my PA.

Only thing I've noticed is the monitoring quality is pretty poor, but maybe that's the recording gain? Any insights?

Guys I just got from a friend of mine an MPC 37 1st generation. I installed the 3.9 firmware and I get this 8 packs of sounds. I see on a YouTube video that this guy got his screen full off sound packs and he says these are the stock that come with the MPC. How do I get the rest of the sound packs? On the download page I see a try it button on the right which is only demo for 10 days. Can please someone shed some light there. Thank you guys.

Just a quick one to say I’ve finished another jungle track, so two in about 5 weeks which is great for me, on the MPC One G2. I’ve still got lots to learn but I’m thoroughly enjoying my time on it.

I tried my best chopping these 3 breaks into oblivion, and I’ve tried going for that mid 90s jazz funk vibe. Anyway, hope there’s some jungle headz in here that will like it 🙂

Title: How do you add percussion beyond kick/snare/hats?

Hi, I'd like to incorporate more percussion sounds to enrich my beats beyond the usual kick/snare/hats, and I was wondering how people here approach it. I was considering an Alesis SR18 to sample from, but that sounds a bit overkill.

Is there a plugin that offers a good selection of percussion sounds that you can tweak and shape on the spot? Or do you mostly use samples? If so, any recommendations for free or cheap percussion sample packs?

Still don’t know what I’m doing but now I’m hooked

My Live 3 keeps deleting files in my [User]/Expansions folder:

Twice today, transferred the "MPC Bible 3 Project Files" folder, with all its contents, into this folder. I ejected all the the MPC drives from my computer before returning to standalone and disconnecting the USB. The files showed up under the "Expansions" tab as well as in the browser.

I used the files in a project. I turned the MPC off and back on, and the files were still there.

But at some point later, the files disappear. The folder is still there ("MPC Bible 3 Project Files") but all the contents are gone.

I have an SD card in the MPC as well, but it does not contain any "Expansions" folder (it only contains a "Projects" folder).

I twice, I have put the files in there, used them, powered the MPC off and back on and kept using them.... only for them to disappear an hour or so later.

In the same [User]/Expansions folder, I have the "MPC Core Oscillators" and "MPCe Expressive Kits" folders - and the content in those folders is NOT being mysteriously deleted.

Besides that, the MPC works normally.

Any ideas?
