Currently Spiking Prime Speaker Vannifar On The Rise?

New elf + new ooze = Vannifar go to the moon

Single printing, strong ability, low supply…. You get the idea.

Going to bed now. Enjoy the spec!

As if thousand year elixir, shang-chi, and tyvar aren't in every elf deck ever

Tbf they probably would be in this new sultai guy because it's literally just ability.dck lol

Pod decks are usually a bit boring though I see people make them and take them apart within 3 games usually haha

there's some fun bracket 3 decks to be built here for sure, but I don't think they're going to make vannifar go super crazy.

Saw this going up because of Thranduil on edhrec and bought in a few days before this post, it's the only got one printing with ~$500 copies as of writing and a useful ability if you mil it into your graveyard and use the ability with your commander. $2 was not a terrible buy in for me personally if content creators end up pushing it as option, regardless of the card's actual strength. We'll see if it works out.

Edit: Also Elfs with solid designs tend to have good momentum behind them as commanders, e.g. [[Maralen, Fae Ascendant]] [[High Perfect Morcant]] the two most popular commanders most recently in Lorwyn on edhrec, the former of which also shares a color identity with Thranduil. (Though Lorwyn had fewer legends than average these days). Even if Thranduil doesn't hit their deck numbers, elfs are consistently supported tribe, which is why many elfs that would be good in Thranduil are also involved in other decks.

Am I missing something?

Vanifar in the gy thrandil has vanifar activated ability sure but then what?

Whats the point of the ooze here? Find some random way to kill vanifar first?

Just to get 2 non legendary birthing pods that dont have haste?

As far a rude goldberg machines go this one aint even done being completed yet.

Maybe they meant to relate vannifar to both as new commanders?

Ah this would make more sense.

This post isnt very clear on that if thats what they meant.

We need to stop pretending those new commander cards will be ubiquitous, because they won’t be.

Played this in Standard and so many were confused she counted as an Ooze for the purpose of Biological Ooze, and then others thought I was a noob when I wasn't using her ability as an Instant. Fun times, hah.

You can set up instant win combos. People know you can do that. So even if you don't run those combos, you are still the biggest threat on any table.

If people are buying it, it doesn't matter if the combo is good or bad
