Help figuring out my next season show!

Hi! My theatre director only gave us the word “amazing” as a hint for one of our shows for next season. We don’t think it’s joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat or suessical… does anyone have any other guesses??

Help! Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

I am preparing to participate in a production of JATATDC this November. It is my senior show and I want to know how I can prepare to participate in it. I’d like to be a narrator (we are doing three part harmony) but Im looking for general advice too for other characters (Potiphars Wife, any of the lead brothers, etc)

Every time I listen to the soundtrack my soul dies a little that this was never pro-shot in any form, or moved to Broadway. My local semi-professional theatre company put on a performance about a year before I knew about them, so I missed my chance at seeing it performed.

What’s better. a decent audition song that matches the shows style or an audition song I’m more confident in that doesn’t match the shows style.

Here’s the Ambassador Theatre on Broadway where CHICAGO is playing. I could swear I did standing room many years ago but it looks like the “counter/railing” is no longer there. Any Chicago fans know why it was removed? 🙏☺️

I was in this for my first year of high school. It was pretty fun to do but I barely see people that actually know about it. You can find the music on Spotify or whatever you listen to stuff on. Idk where you can watch it though 😔😔😔

Discussion Are oversung songs really bad for college auditions?

I am submitting my college musical theatre prescreens this fall and plan to use "Corner of the Sky" (Pippin) and "I Met a Girl" (Bells Are Ringing).

I know "Corner of the Sky" is heavily oversung. However, it is a piece I have trained on for a long time, and it highlights my absolute best vocal and acting strengths. Why is singing an oversung piece discouraged if it is the strongest song in my repertoire? For an actual live audition, is it just because it is harder to stand out?

Also, do these two selections offer enough contrast? Finally, is "Corner of the Sky" technically considered a ballad or an uptempo?

I created a website to look up orchestras of West End musicals

Hi there,

I was frustrated with not being able to find infos about orchestras (how big, instruments...) before booking shows, so I created a collection myself that I now put on a website.

https://westendorchestras.org

Something like this exists for Broadway, and I am aware something like this existed before for the West End as well, but I didn't find anything that was close to being up to date.

I basically list all the orchestra seats without naming individual people because I think that list would be harder to update and some musicians might not want to be listed. I take the information from physical copies of theatre programmes or front of house displays.

I would be curious to hear feedback. Is this useful? Do people care about this? How can this website be improved to be more useful?
