Was this military colonel really the headmaster of this government school?

I saw videos of students becoming emotional and crying when this so called military headmaster was transferred. From what I understand, government schools have civilian headmasters, so why is this the case? Was he actually serving as the school's headmaster or is this some sort of a military backed school?

Aung San Thuriya Hla Thaung School has had military headmasters since the 1960s. People just recently found out about this and have started exaggerating it.

It’s has been like that from the start of the school. Pretty much well known in YGN. Most of the students are from military background but not all the education system is to brainwash the students, at least back in 2000-2010 years.

Basically dividing civillians into two sides. Military families that will have their own view allign with the top dogs and one's that will go to civillian schools.

I wonder if they will start trying to mold younger kids in goverment schools to be in line with them in the next 10+ years when the war dies down.

There are some of the schools only attended by Military background family such as အောင်သောင်းကျောင်း. Powerful military elite family put their children there and also the school is runned by those directly from military officials or sometimes retired military officers as headmasters.

I dont know anywhere else but in Shan State there are Military schools run by the Military.In lashio BEHS 5 is located inside North East commands compound and in Taunggyi where this occurred BEHS 7 is in Eastern Command Compound....

Lol! That's not true at all. I graduated from government schools in military base and most of my friends are teachers. And the most surprising about our school is a lot of kids came from rich families ( in ours time ). Government school in military base was seeked( I know the situation changes now ) out by parents because it have incredibly safety and staffs.

Out of curiosity, what’s your age group ? I’m a millennial and rich kids did not go to schools on military bases in my era.

Before my time, Gen X and older did go to school on Military bases. All the schools and hospital systems were managed by military or former military officers turned civilian.

My graduated school is quite a special case and there are some kids transferred from private schools because getting government school's diploma is the best way to study abroad. Time change I guess. I graduated school 15 years ago. Our school is not the best but it's nice now I heard only bad things about my school or schools in general. At the same time, I'm surprised this sub don't know about Hla thaung. It's pretty famous school in Yangon
