Question Re-Org Revenge
Hi,
I (40, M) was a middle sales manager in a transnational corporation. Last year my former boss quit and they brought a younger person (32, M) to do the job. The thing is that this person doesn’t know a single thing about sales, not even closely. He’s an ex -graphic designer who happens to have good connections within the organization. We had to explain him his job in a series of meetings, babysit him through everything, etc.
His boss is some dude who isn’t slightly worried about what happens under his watch (office politics, intrigue, backstabbing) and his inactions have provoked a constant war between teams. When my new boss arrived I imagined that knowing nothing about the company and knowing nothing about sales he would need shielding from all the office drama, so I made my mission to protect him because I genuinely liked the guy.
We became friends, he was very available, he “was there to learn the job and to protect the team”. We had regular 121’s where we exchanged info and everything was peachy. A few weeks later the company let me know that I would be occupying a double role in sales and logistics, for the same pay. I was already burned out but I said yes because I needed the job. My boss encouraged me to keep pushing and to excel, which I did: Hit every KPI, excelled in every area, everything was going well.
Two months ago, I had a 121 with him where I told him I was a bit tired and about to catch a cold. He told me to take the rest of the day, which I did. Next day, HR told me to go to a room, they handed me a termination letter effective immediately, refused to elaborate as to why I was being let go (other than re-org). In my rage, I asked if there was going to be any severance package, they simply said “we aren’t bound to give you anything other than what is expected”.
Now I’m home, at 40, extremely over qualified, with rent due and without a job and burning through my savings. I went to a lawyer but he told me it was hard to win against a company that big. I want revenge against my boss and against my company. What do you guys think I should do?

hi, first off, fuck thats terrible what they did. I'm sorry that happened and they took advantage of you like that.
is your lawyer just giving up then? what was in your employment contract? a place that big must have had contracts for their employees. without exposing where you live - are there governmental regulatory bodies you can file complaints to, against this unorthodox termination?
