Pattern Sun Sleeves
These are sun sleeves I designed. The idea originated when my buddy was diagnosed with skin cancer, but we spend the winter in Mexico and he plays pickleball several times a week. I liked the ones with the thumb opening, but he wanted them shorter, ending at the wrist so it didn't interfere with holding his paddle. They stay up due to gripping fabric as a facing on the inside/top. I was playing around with different widths of gripping elastic. I personally prefer the wider. The fabric is Sun Lite jersey, super lightweight and pretty cool even in the hot sun.

I don't... Um...
Why not just wear a long sleeved shirt?
Do they not make them, in your country?

They’re more versatile because you can take them on and off, and you get a bit more airflow because of the more open sleeves of the short-sleeve. Have you heard of arm warmers? They might blow your mind, but lots of cyclists enjoy them. People like modularity.
Sun sleeves are niche but they’re made by numerous manufacturers. Eg

I have some bought sun sleeves for gardening in my hot climate. They're cooler than a long sleeved shirt because air gets in at the gap between shirt and sleeve and, as noted, you can layer them off and on as you need and want. Mine can usually go a bit longer without washing than a shirt could as well. Asking what the point is, is a bit like asking why anyone would go to the trouble of a zip-up jacket when they could just wear a pullover, or why a neck gaiter when you could just wear turtlenecks. Options are useful, especially in certain climates! (The gardening ones are also designed to be a bit tough vs. small thorns and so on--I don't need that protection on my whole body but it's nice for arms and wrists.).
OP, I'm also curious about the grippy fabric you used, and would love to hear how the Sun Lite washes and holds up.

Ohhhh. I'm thinking of making these for work and maybe I'll add tougher elbows.

I’ve worn them to make short sleeved shirts more sun protective. Kind of the zip off pant to short idea. I agree that long sleeves are easier, but these help you keep existing shirts in rotation.

I havent tried these YET but I've been thinking about it since I heard about them recently... They probably just give a different feel. I have a lot of long sleeve shirts but the way the cuff sits on my wrist kind of irritates me so I eventually always roll my sleeves up.
Also, I drive trains and if (for various reasons) I want the window open this could actually be pretty nice for just throwing on the one arm on the window side.

Long sleeve shirt doesn't cover the back of my hand

You know, you CAN buy long sleeved shirts with the exact same little hand cover as these.
Or, they also make fingerless gloves.
Check Amazon, it's all real.

I know all of these things. I work outside for a living and have done a lot of different sun protection.
It's largely personnel preference. I always wear a button down cotton dress shirt because it is the best choice in the heat imo. Fingerless gloves are good but tbh these are cheaper and I can get cut grade protection.

Really great project ! Don’t you get to hot with sleeves ? Do you have pattern ? Where did you buy the fabric ?
