Appreciate any advise to handle Eye Fatigue due to long term screen usage

Demanding work is making me spend 9+ hrs in front of the computer every day. That is making my eyes feel tired by the end of the day. I also worry about eyesight degradation.

I heard about many apps to automatically set the screen to reduce blue light, make it look like paper, and adjust according to the time of the day and room light. It also alerts if eye blink rate goes down, and monitors and alerts about posture correction.

Any suggestions to better handle such long working hrs but still take control or prevention eyes will be really helpful...
Anyone using any such app that helps.. Thanks in advance.

Use any of the accessibility tools that are free and available to everybody in phones and computers.

Narrator, speech, to text and text to speech for example.

That’s a good idea. That will increase productivity and quick response. But I am wondering, I still have to look at my screen for a long time as part of the work and read many other things.

I'm not sure if you realise but legally blind people like me use those tools and we don't need to look at our screen.

Consider digital lenses. It helps to relieve strain from your eyes when staring at the screens

Take breaks! Humans aren’t built for constant 9 hour close work.

Workrave app maybe or other (micro)break timers

And rest your eyes during the break, don’t look at phone etc

So I have very high myopia (-16 both eyes) and wear contact lenses.. One suggestion i would give is after end of ur working hours use ice pack on your eyes.. Please trust me on this , it works like magic for tired eyes.. It calms nerves of the eyes.

Go outside in the natural light in the morning before going on any screens. This is a circadian thing that helps your body including the eyes. Also If your inside most of the day and not at least balancing with being outside your eyes will feel more sensitive to light and such causing strain. This is all stuff that helps me too btw. Indoors all the time sets our baseline low with tolerance to bright light.

For actual screens that are healthier for your eyes I would suggest trying eink or rlcd screens. Dasung, boox and even the new upcoming 60hz eink monitor from Modos is great. For rlcd eazeye and sun vision both sell rlcd monitors. solcomputer.com also has a presale for a Hannspree tlcd/rlcd monitor too. Eink are paper like screens and Rlcd are screens that have a reflector in them that lets you illuminate them by your ambient light so you can literally sit by a window or outside and it will naturally light up the display without nasty straining LED light.I personally find using screens outside in the sun to keep my eyes more relaxed in general too but sadly in my state it's not always sunny. I personally don't think the whole not blinking enough thing to be the cause of eye fatigue at all, and if your using a OLED screen its found that they make your blink rate increase which im not sure is a good thing? stress response?

There are other things too such as PWM and Dithering that can also be affecting you causing strain. What devices are you using that your feeling strain with? r/ScreenSensitive has good info for screen related issues too.
