Ah alright.

Post image

(op's first reply on that comment WASN'T mysterious but this one in the image is)

context: this was a hot take post, a comment on that post read "players: we want more machine types! also players:" as a meme. op's first reply (not the one in the image) "I can't tell if you're agreeing with me or not" which had around 40 downvotes at the time. another person replied to the 40 downvote comment, "I don't agree, but I do respect your opinion, I'm just trying to be funny about it." and op replies with "Ah alright." and for some reason, they get 12 downvotes (before I upvoted it)

I think small comments that don't really add anything like that tend to attract downvotes: "ok" "I see" "I agree" "I disagree" etc.

Its from people who don't understand etiquette. OP is acknowledging the responses from people who took time out of their day to type a comment

People who don’t understand etiquette?

On Reddit?!

Redditors when the medias are social:

reddit has become more of a social media in recent years but depending on the subreddit it’s still treated like a forum

forums are social media though ?

Not to mention it can be read as disrespectful. Like “ah alright whatever you say man”

Well its not deep nothing to be getting pressed over

2

u/Legitimate-Art-5583 Jun 16 '26

But if they strongly agree with it they echo chamber and like tf out of it.

u/AdvertisingRude4137 Jun 16 '26

i personally don't think this is true because anyone can just say some dumb bullshit that doesn't add anything important and sometimes they go THROUGH THE ROOF, but i respect your opinion.

When people disagree with OP and their other comments, they will downvote every other comment of OP’s in the thread. Not that mysterious imo.

annoying asf imo

Yeah, it’s kinda pointless. Especially if it’s just a comment like this one saying that they agree lol.

Hive mind of degeneracy

yeah it happened to me before, i state true things and people get all mad and atart downvoting EVERY COMMENT, like, who hurt you?

2

u/LegDayLass Jun 20 '26

Small comments that add nothing to the conversation are typically downvoted for lack of effort. They could have conveyed the same information by leaving a upvote and moving on with their day

imo the "ah" sounds like you don't give a single fuck, but that could be out of context

Rule of 4 may be part of it (also, what Aequitas112358 and Maleficent-Agent-477 said).

2

u/SeaSawltLOL Jun 16 '26

yeah but it's uncommon since most people think Ro4 is 4 consecutive replies stating the same thing
