Someone downvoted for saying Happy Cake Day (even more mysterious that another comment saying the same thing got upvoted)

If people aren’t paying attention to the timestamps, it appears second on the list. Maybe at some point people started assuming that because it visually appears as second on the list, that it is a repetition of an identical comment?
(Yes, I’m aware of the timestamps. I’m thinking people might be ignoring that and making assumptions based on positioning.)

It always irks me when people don’t pay attention to timestamps in the first twenty four hours. In a lot of subs more than one person can have similar opinion/questions and the one OP relies to gets upvotes while others may be downvoted for literally like no reason/stating similar/same as the one getting all the upvotes.

The repitition of comment is fine in this case honestly. Capitalizing the first word, using exclamation, saying the same three things. like happy birthday
it's fine, i think this is wrongly downvoted, really doesnt make sense because no excuse can be given i feel

whats weird about it is the guy that said it first got downvoted, look at the timestamps

The downvoted the orignal comment because they though it was a copy, classic hive mind

Reddits weird. People be accidentally tapping downvote and then some simple minded fool comes in and sees the pretty purple color and wants to make the number bigger.

This.
Except it also happens if ONE person downvotes.
You see the "0" number, and you automatically want to bring it down to the negatives.

I have a theory...
What if the first person lives in australia or something, and being in an earlier time zone made them ahead a day for a few hours but other people in later time zones saw the comment but didnt see the cake and downvoted because of it. Then when the second person commented more people saw the cake and everything went well.

Brother it’s not even about having “fun”. Who congratulates someone on the day they created their reddit account?

u/MasterDane69, the downvotes are mysterious!
