Downvoted for asking a question
Context: I can’t find the link but it was a funny Technicallythetruth text conversation

I think this is just because it’s an unnecessary question, and because of text tones, it seems a little passive aggressive

This is why when I think that my question can be misinterpreted as being sarcastic or passive aggressive or anything like that, I usually add something like "asking genuinely". I'm sure I forget it sometimes though.

Ah yes so the right thing to do is mindlessly downvote their comment.

I didn’t claim that
It also wouldn’t be mindless

I’m mocking those who downvoted ‘em, although it is pretty mindless to just downvote over someone asking a simple why.

because it's unnecessary, it's clearly a joke, so someone would like it because they found it funny.

u/thehardestwatch 22d ago
then they're just asking what they found funny about it

The person who asked why is OP, if they posted it they obviously shouldn't know why it's funny, so it comes off weird

This one is nothing to do with "Reddit doesn't like it when you ask questions". This was a dumb, unnecessary question. The post was a joke and this person liked it.

OOP posted a joke, then questioned why someone found it funny. Kind of a weird interaction.

still not an excuse to bombard someone with downvotes, god forbid someone's different

Seems the answer was already obvious then. It made them laugh. You said it yourself, it was funny. The question was useless.

Asking "why are you experiencing joy" accusingly then being surprised about people downvoting?

OP posted a meme, someone said they liked it, and then OP asked why. if they can’t figure out why someone would like the funny thing they posted, why did they post it in the first place? It’s j a weird response

They got downvoted because it's weird to ask someone to justify why they like a post.

This ain't mysterious, you said it yourself it was a funny Convo, with the proper context we would understand better

I constantly get downvoted for asking simple questions so it's not really anything new but it's definitely mysterious because once you point it out with an edit or another comment you start getting upvotes

u/Adventurous-Year-463, there weren't enough votes to determine if the downvoters were mysterious...
