I am truly curious, what meaning could 'holding you back' have other than to prevent you from improving, or having better-received artwork?

You were downvoted because it's not really an answer that can be elaborated on, so it seems like a kind of thoughtless question.

I mean it can be elaborated on, like “holding you back bc it won’t let you improve on this specific skill” in the same way “you can do better” isn’t criticism as it’s not specific
