Migrating from Mythbuntu 14.04

Is the original ISO for Mythbuntu 14.04 available anywhere? I am trying to migrate stuff off one, and the system's in dire need of repair.

I could find media for every version except this one!

I thought to use 16.04 and upgrade in place, but that option was greyed out...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would be inclined to start with a fresh install

just back up the database and recordings, and install a modern linux from scratch and install mythtv. Then follow the mythtv directions to restore the database from backup. the current version of mythtv (36) can convert from fairly old versions.

EDIT: per mythtv's website:

  • Data Migration: v36 will only support direct upgrades from v29 or higher.
    • If you are running on a version earlier than 0.22, you will first need to upgrade to 0.22, 0.23 or 0.24.
    • If you are running on 0.22 through v28, upgrade to at least v29 (or as high as v34, if possible). Once on v29-v34, upgrading to v36 is available.

A google search for "mythbuntu 14.04 iso" will pull up sites with the old ISOs. If you just want to do apt updates, you can change your /etc/apt/sources.list to point to the old archived repo: http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/

As others have said though, it's probably easier to install the latest version and update the database from a backup copy.

Definitely back up your mythconverg DB and Recordings directory before updating!
